It was annonced in the press and on air today that the Uk DAB radio station Planet Rock is officially up for sale and if a buyer is not found the station could be gone by the end of march. I,m now going to the pub to drown my sorrows.

Roberto is a smashing bloke to deal with!! I have known himsince the mid eighties!!! When you speak to him next say Paul the scrounger says hi!!! ( I used to spend hours rumaging round the warehouse for cheap guitar bits for various projects)

All I can say is "you lucky lucky lucky etc etc..... If the wife gives you any abuse just smile and think about a beautiful bass that you own...... I just hope she doesn,t hit you with it!!!! :-)

I can remember when they first came out and they were amazing then! I,ve never owned one but its on my shopping list of "one day" basses.

You mean the Totnes school of guitar making down in devon! It,s a lot more than just being tutored for a few days while you put together the bits to your new bass, they teach you the whole deal from solid bodys thru to building acoustics as well as neckmaking,fretting,inlays and so on. I,ve not done their courses but I,seen some of the work done by ex pupils at guitar shows over the last few years and they are very impressive. It,s probably a bit overkill on the education front if all you want to do is just build up a couple of instruments yourself but definitly the way to go if you are looking to make a career out of it.

I use three soundgear basses. an SR2005 five string fretted thru neck, an SR1205 five string fretless and an SR405 five string fretted with a bolt on neck (by far the lightest). I can get just about every tone I want from them, they are very comfortable to play due to their great necks and they are totally reliable, If you want a great bit of kit just to go to work with you can,t go wrong.
