GAS - I'm tempted by a Squier Deluxe Jazz Bass IV that I've found for sale, what do you think, shall I go for it?

And again Royal mail have failed to deliver, didn't even leave a card, the website says they tried to deliver this morning but no card, no knock at the door (have been in all day), someone's telling porkies.
Just wanted a cheap harness to try out series/parallel but at this rate I might just end up hard wiring the bass in series

I remember one time when my Dad was painting some skirting by his front door, a card from the Post Office came fluttering through the letterbox saying that they had tried to deliver a package but nobody was in. My Dad opened the front door and confronted the startled Postman, saying that nobody had knocked and where's my parcel. The Postman admitted that he didn't actually have it as he had left it at the sorting office, my Dad told them in no uncertain terms to go and get it and bring it immediately, which they sheepishly did.
I do not trust the Post Office whatsoever, lazy, bungling idiots the lot of them.

45-105 or 40-100 ?
I've always played 45-105's but I was thinking of trying 40-100's, is there that much of a distinguishable difference between the two gauges?
-
@TKenrick I tried a set of Rotosound BS66 Billy Sheehan signature strings back in the mid 90's after seeing him at a clinic at the The Bass Centre in Wapping, I didn't get on with the .110 E string. I love 45-105's and I stick with them for my main basses.

@shoulderpet I just looked at it, those strings were thick with crust 🤮

@Lowend soldier I could probably clone the previous owner from the amount that was on there 😂

@Kev I thought it would be higher too. 100's are nice to play and I'll definitely keep at least one bass with them on.

@gjones I agree, I just restrung my Spector with a set of 40-100, the action is a little bit lower and the lighter gauge is definitely easier to play. The bass sounds the same.

People are weird.
I just replied to a 'bassist wanted' ad on fb that just said a date and location, message me if interested, with no fee, genre etc listed, and the person replied saying 'blocking you because you're asking too many questions' and blocked me.
Like...my interest level depends on the answer to those questions -
One of my students has an awesome sounding Jazz bass. I don't actually own a Jazz bass. Now I need a Jazz bass.
If psychologists want to come and study terminal G.A.S, you know where I am... lol

My stepson has just tested positive, 8 days before he was due to leave for his fortnight's holiday in the Maldives. They've been looking forward to it for literally years. Gutted is an understatement.

Just tried out one of those newer SUB series Stingrays - quite underwhelming...

Given that the tracking doesn't seem to work... how long should a Thomann order take?

Things you get told on Facebook groups:
Apparently, saying that I wouldn't shed any tears if a pair of child torturers/murderers got the sht kicked out of them in prison actually makes me a worse person than the two killers themselves.
Blimey. All this time I thought I was a bit of a bleeding-heart pinko lib, but it seems I'm an absolute rank amateur.
-
@Rich I'm 100% with you mate, in fact I would go further and actually offer to kick the sht out of them.

How do I go about changing my user name?

@Reggaebass It's the exact reason I chose the new name 😁

Isn’t it crazy that nobody during WW2 had ever heard electric slap bass?

What would be a good preamp/modeller/driver/DI to go straight into a PA? Before everyone starts naming bespoke, top of the range items, please bear in mind that the budget is low. When I say low, I mean that I was looking at a Behringer BDI21, low.

@EBS_freak I don't know, I play in a church and I rarely go near the desk, the Tech Team don't like it when the Musicians get too close.
