  1. Okay, so after seeing quite a few of your comments I unwound and completely unseated the low-B, and it was indeed twisted around by quite a bit. Sounds better to me now, although it's late and the neighbors have most certainly gone to sleep... so I better give it another go tomorrow. Thanks for your quick comments and advice! All very helpful and much appreciated!
  2. No, sorry if I wasn't clear. The strings are the same brand. They're just whatever Warwick puts on Team Built GPS Streamers at the factory. I was saying that I have a few different brands in-hand which I could consider putting on the bass instead (and I would change them all simultaneously... i.e., completely remove the Warwick strings).
  3. Thanks a lot, all really excellent suggestions. Would you happen to have a recommended pickup height? The bridge pick-up is currently ~2.5 mm below the string and the neck pick-up is sitting at ~3.5 mm.
  4. My other 5-string LX5 which has an ebony fretboard... but the ebony one was purchased used, so I never heard it with one of these tapered Warwick low-B strings on there.
  5. So, the Warwick LX5 Streamer with black hardware arrived today. However, I'm not so impressed with the sound of this low-B string. Have a look at the bridge photo... could the problem be the tapered low-B that Warwick gives you? The low-B just sounds incredibly disappointing. This fretboard is Wenge... I have some Ernie Balls here that I could put on... or D'Addario tapewounds. Think either of those will help?
  6. The headphone input is really convenient too... if I'm at home and don't want to bother the fam while I jam away.
  7. Which cabinet did you choose?
  8. I'm taking my GK Legacy 800 into the recording studio with me at the end of February. I'll give a go at using the low-Z out, as well as putting a mic on a cabinet. We'll see how that goes!
  9. Yeah, it's very playable and the neck profile is really slim... probably one of the most playable 5-string basses I've ever picked up. I just don't need it... and I have others that I gig and rehearse with. Thought that I would pass it on to someone that could get some good use out of it!
  10. Ibanez SR-505 5-string bass in brown Mahogany for sale, which even INCLUDES a nice hard-shell case. Super easy to play and has a nice warm, rich tone. Fitted and adjusted with a set of BRAND NEW Ernie Ball strings. It's a great bass, in fantastic shape (see photos), but I am almost exclusively playing my Warwicks these days and just don't need it. This bass has never been gigged by me, just played at home. The previous owner only used it in his recording studio. Only has one small ding on the bass body, in the curve just below the neck (see photos). Neck type: 5pc SR5 Bubinga Body: Mahogany Jatoba fretboard with Abalone oval inlays Frets: Medium Bridge: Accu-Cast B25 (16.5 mm string spacing) Neck PU: Bartolini MK1 Bridge PU: Bartolini MK1 Equaliser: Bartolini MK1 3-band Asking £350 and I'm in Sheffield. Thanks for looking!
  11. Another teaser photo of the LX5 streamer... I've been out of the UK for awhile, so actually haven't received either of these yet!
  12. Ray Burton – father of late Metallica bassist Cliff Burton – has passed away on Wednesday, aged 94. https://www.kerrang.com/the-news/ray-burton-father-of-cliff-burton-dies-at-94/
  13. The white LX5 Streamer was 'Team Built' and so cost just as much as a standard Warwick LX5 (not Rockbass) you'd find in your local music store, I just got to specify colors, etc. The black satin LX4 Streamer was 'Master Built' and so is higher-end than the LX5... but not insanely expensive.
  14. These are not LEDs... indeed that was quite an expensive option!
  15. It comes with a mini-USB cable for re-charging!
  16. The LX5 is not nearly as nice... regular GPS Streamer LX5 but simply with all black hardware on white cream. It has a Wenge fretboard on an Ovangkol neck. Today I heard that it's ready too! Teaser photo attached...

  18. I have an old Warwick Chrome Tone LX5 (2004) with bronze frets, which has been very well played, and they are still in great shape. It's a special bronze alloy... supposedly longer life than nickel ones: http://www.warwick.de/en/Warwick---Company--Our-unique-instruments--Our-necks-and-fretboards--Our-Bell-Bronze-Frets.html#current_site_id
  19. Ha! Yes, my original request was for black pickups... I literally said, "Tell those Germans, 'Alles schwarz. Sehr, sehr schwarz!'" and somehow the brushed metal ones snuck into the spec sheet. In retrospect, I think that was for the best... it looks really sharp like this. I'm very pleased.
  20. Alright, I discovered that there are more photos on the Warwick Customshop website...
  21. Oh, and can't see from these photos but the Ebony fretboard is paired with a Wenge neck (number of laminations = n-1, so for LX4 this is 3).
  22. JP is the standard pickup configuration for Warwick Streamer LX4...
  23. Yeah, these are teaser photos sent to me from the intermediary. Bass is still making it's way to me from Germany now... I asked them to send me a few photos.
