  1. I have a few Warwicks that I use, but I'm still surprised occasionally with the tone that I can get out of my Ibanez Soundgear SR 300E. The Ibanez cost me £200, and I really think that was a total bargain.
  2. Roy takes really good care of his gear, and this is a fantastic deal for someone!
  3. Our new single is out on Spotify today. 'Ground Down' by Before They Are Hanged (I'm on bass, of course!). Check it out! https://open.spotify.com/album/2fTOQLH71qyB9HbUZntaWd?si=uszFlReuQvmsU9RDviM6kQ
  4. I received my first order from the Designacable folks in Notts recently. Order was placed with them based on the recommendation from some of the Basschat folks (thanks!). Received Neutrik 1/4" plugs that I soldered on to my old instrument cable myself (fixed the noise issue that I had!). Also received a couple of 1/4" to RCA cables to use with my Focusrite, as well as a 1/4" speaker cable to use for a Marshall head and guitar cab. Very happy so far!!!
  5. Bought Roy's Mesa 4x12" bass cab. He's a genuinely kind guy, who takes really good care of his gear and is a pleasure to deal with. Thanks again and just let me know if you ever want the cab back!
  6. I'm guessing it's just not a common enough application... guitarists frequently switch amps, some even in the middle of songs. Bassists I guess not so much.
  7. Thanks a lot for the suggestion, but as far as I can tell, that has 1/4" speaker jacks on it. Now we just need a version with SpeakOn.
  8. Like some of you, I have a few amps (and GAS). I also have one nice set of speakers that I'm really happy to stick with, even while using any of my various amps. I know there are a lot of amp switchers for guitars, but these all have 1/4" ports on the back of them. I'm wondering if there are any out there which utilize SpeakOns? Okay, yes, I could do 1/4" to SpeakOn and then back again... but this seems like a silly and wasteful thing to do. Anyway, let me know if you have suggestions for a piece of kit that might be out there. Thanks!
  9. Nice Powerhouse Vintage cab. Just out of curiosity, does this have a crossover switch in the back?
  10. Thanks a lot for your reply @agedhorse. I guess my next question would be: How different is the Subway channel on the TT-800 to the WD-800, which also uses a tube in the preamp? BTW: I just happened to recently acquire a WD-800.

    feedback for Deedee

Just purchased a Mesa WD-800 bass head from Dan. He's a patient and pleasant guy who takes really good care of his gear! Great to meet you Dan, and nice to know that you live quite close! Many thanks!
  12. Thanks a lot Dan, real pleasure to meet you!
  13. Okay, a bit of additional information that you might find interesting: My PowerHouse Vintage 4x10" does have the cross-over installed in the back, however the 1x15" does not (despite having a 400 W @ 8 Ohm rating just like the Standard PowerHouse 115): https://www.mesaboogie.com/cabinets--simulators/bass-cabinets/powerhouse-series/standard-powerhouse/1x15.html Indeed, it seems like a hodgepodge of some residual parts as Mesa was getting the last few of these cabs out the door before killing off the series. I don't need the crossover for the 115 anyway, but I do have the additional headroom of a 400 W cab, so that's great (unlike the Traditional PowerHouse 115, which has a 300 W rating): https://www.mesaboogie.com/cabinets--simulators/bass-cabinets/powerhouse-series/traditional-powerhouse/1x15.html
  14. I can now confirm that the 1x15" Mesa Powerhouse Vintage cab is 400 W @ 8 Ohms. There was only one way to really find out.
  15. I don't know anything about the technical details (so just asking): How is the Mesa approach for this TT800 different from something like the Gallien-Krueger MB Fusion heads? Isn't that what GK has done?
  16. Just saw the demo video pop up in my YouTube feed this evening... didn't realize Mesa had a new bass head coming out before now!
  17. BTW: Back to the mystery of the "Vintage" powerhouse cabs, I did find this catalog on the Mesa website. Have a look at Page 83: https://mesa-boogie.imgix.net/media/Files/mesa-full-catalog.pdf
  18. Thanks a lot for all of the replies on this thread. Really much appreciated. Notts is not far from me at all, so given the recommendations I'll give the folks at https://www.designacable.com/ a try!
  19. There was a pair up for sale on eBay, and the description field said "also comes with a bunch of spare fuses", so I started to get suspicious. I asked the seller about this, and he confessed that yes, this pair had been blowing fuses pretty regularly. I started to google around a bit on the issue, and found more and more reports of blown fuses. From the comments and responses that I found, the issue appears to be related to the power transformer?
  20. With figuring out Reaper, I found that YouTube is the friend who will quickly teach you the ropes. I'm still learning myself... but found it useful to record in takes on one track, and then once I'm done I can do comps on those takes, and/or use a command to expand all of those takes into separate tracks.
  21. With the lockdown era here, I've been doing a lot more home recording. I am now looking into a pair of home studio monitors and thought about the Adam A7X. I was actually thinking about picking up a pair second-hand, however it seems that the A7X is prone to blowing fuses? I'm wondering if others here have had some experience with these speakers. I certainly wouldn't want to pick up a problematic pair that are no longer under warranty!
  22. I'm disappointed with the cable brand that I'm currently using with my bass (turned out not to be robust and now gives a crackle occasionally when I move around). I'm wondering: What is the best cable out there? Looking for recommendations... low noise and long-lasting!
  23. Are these still available @bagsieblue? I am possibly interested in all three... what kind of price including shipping if I take all of them together?
  24. Thanks a lot for your very quick, detailed and helpful reply @Dad3353. I managed to pick up a used m160 very recently for a good price. So... I've added this to my collection and am experimenting a bit with different mics on my bass cab (other mics in the arsenal at the moment are: SM57, AKG D112, MD-421 and Lewitt 640 REX). The plan for the m160 in my collection would mostly be for acoustic and electrical guitar (SM57 + m160 is a great sound!), but given the nearly flat response of this mic across the frequency range, I want to give a go at using it on my bass cab in my home studio too. Googling around a bit, the pop screen the kept getting mentioned was this one from Pete's Place: http://petesplaceaudio.com/blast-pad-mic-pop-screen Of course it's not cheap... but neither is getting a ribbon mic repaired!
