  1. Spied a Luxor faker on the continent but he’d prefer not to post. Bolt on. Nice price too.
  2. I think the legend standard is light?
  3. Thanks folks. Yes, I think I'd look at the Legend series at least.
  4. Hi all, anyone play the Spector Performer 4? The bottom of the line obviously, and I'm thinking of one, specifically to mod the pickups. Also, it would kill a few other birds with the one stone. Twouldn't be a "main bass" but would be different to a p bass. I am guessing it would be lighter than a J bass too. Anyone play one? Are they of ok quality?
  5. No picture to add, but thinking of picking up a performer, and putting an Oil City Overkill in the bridge position, and something else in the p pickup slot. (Or a Legend maybe), will see what comes up on the used market. @Eldon Tyrell that's a beauty!
  6. I am tempted ... Aria Pro ii 1720 model ,Mosrite copy 1970 On Reverb . Condition “fair”.... around £260 ... seems cheap for one of these?
  7. @ClassicVibes what about the Danelectro 59 bass? Supposed to be light enough and they sound decent enough from the vids I’ve seen.
  8. I spied a video yesterday for a Godin Dorchester short scale bass. Semi hollow I think. Looks really cool and like it could be good for some punk style attack but the videos seem to be laid back enough I’d love to see more options like the mosrite with the big p90 style pickups in bridge and right at the neck.
  9. I won’t. The same place has some Greco SG basses for cheap too but the two Ric fakers they had seemed way over priced. There is a polish guy who restores guitars (his vids are on YT) who is either restoring a faker or putting one together . Things got lost in translation !
  10. Spied a Monogram Ric bass for sale too for around £700 .
  11. To my unlearned ears this sounds pretty close to a Ric in places
  12. Plenty of people have modded the J Mascis Squier Jazzmaster. A lot of folk seem to buy it with the objective of modding something on it.
  13. Eastwood shortscales? (the sidejack or is the uniflyer type) . All fur coat and no knickers?
  14. Wonder how it would sound with flatwounds? Something you've tried by any chance? Any love for the Epi rumblekat or Gretsch Junior Jet II ?
  15. I'll have to wait until restrictions are lifted. According to the seller, it's just dusty and lying around, but has a set of flat wounds on it. If I do get it eventually, I might look at the Di Marzio pickup and a new bridge, but I'll post pics if and when the time comes. There are also a few Gibson SG basses knocking around near me too, one a standard, and one a faded, so infected with a lot of GAS at the moment. Hold out for the Gibson, or just mod the Epi and get stuck into that neck pick up!
  16. My only experience is the Squier bronco, and it was light, but I also have a squier strat which is light. I don't find 34" uncomfortable, but I think the short scale was more comfy for me around the 8 to the 14th fret
  17. Just use a bass neck with tuners in it. It’ll feel like a baseball bat.
  18. True. It almost seems to cheap to be worth the punt....
  19. I have an opportunity to pick up a short scale Epi EB0 tomorrow for £100 , a 4 hour round trip though by car, so weighing up the options.... I don't really *need* it...
  20. Can't get them to go under €800 for the Jayro. Also, I've seen in Spain, a Kay faker and an Oakland 4003 replica, for a bit cheaper... The Oakland looks more like a Ric compared to the Kay.
  21. Yup, and from what I can see in the pics, it's well played too. I could go in with a total lowball offer though, which would be out of order, but possibly worth a punt...
  22. @Bassassin I'm not on the bookface anymore, so can't join. The one I saw online is a Jayro, advertised as Japanese, but looking back through old threads here, it would seem to be Korean? Maybe the brand is Japanese, and it was made in Korea? It's set neck as well if that should make a difference or not... I *might* see if I could knock them down on price a bit.
