  1. Lol. I had to cut While My Guitar short on Saturday coz if I didn’t go RIGHT THEN I’d be ringing the wife for emergency trousers. At my age: always go just before you start playing. Or leave the house. Or leave anywhere that has a toilet. And don’t forget to put your ear plugs in and take your wrist supports off. Rock n Roll!!
  2. Green Dragon at Ryhall near Stamford tonight. No keys tonight. Played really well, I got an EXCELLENT stage and foh mix and the landlord was delighted. Paid, fed and watered. 30 min drive. Long though: arrived 15:30 left 23:30. We’re their resident band now. Lots of dancing and singing along. Excellent night! Fingertips aced it for once. Restrung dimension sounded smashing. Bad right middle finger joint pain for the first time. Like, really bad. Don’t recall bashing it - sadly suspect this is the beginning of arthritis forcing use of pick more…
  3. Killer basses. Used to own one. Traded it. I’m an idiot. The sound these produce is delicious!
  4. Ah! Always interesting finding out which BC users have had yer bass before you! I got both of these from @Fettsman. These two aren’t going anywhere, ever. Love them!
  5. Yeah… if this was HH I’d be finding a way to buy it despite just having flipped a (non-special) 5… BRG with white pearl and the roasted neck is SO pretty!!
  6. @scannerman I bet that kills… some tasty choices on there! Good work on the source audio - that’s my money I object list (plus an Atlas) right there! If it’s not too personal would love to see underneath - there’s some midi cable management going on here!
  7. I use D’Addario Nickel 50 - 135 on my fiver dropped 1/2 tone, works well (did have a pro setup mind). I think your proposed gauge will be spot on for a tone down.
  8. If you don’t mind the Marmite looks a Korean/Jap Ibby BTB is also a great choice. Mine’s old… USA Barts and pre. Thru neck. Superb necks, but very much NOT in fender style dimensions! More recent ones have used Nordstrand, Aguilar etc pups and their own preamp. Which is a bit meh as a preamp, but nothing a retrofit wouldn’t cure. Again build quality is superb. Effortlessly playable. The EQ is stupid good on mine. As before it’s now too heavy to gig but the sounds they can produce are great. Mine does a pretty convincing MM if you pluck nearer the bridge but really, it’s a 60/40 blend of neck/bridge that does it on this one.
  9. @Jolltax- from your list can heartily recommend a Sandberg P/MM. Used to own one - a really high end fella that I got in trade for a sweet Jazz that I should have kept. Very heavy (like, 13+ pounds) but an AMAZINGLY well built thing. Big, though. Mine was Häusell pups with a 3 band Glock preamp. The sound was unbelievable. Just: every sound you could ever want and so strong on every frequency. The build quality was off the chart. Ebony board, fantastic hardware. Top loading bridges are great. I doubt you’d be disappointed by one! I had to sell mine because of the weight but I keep hanging my nose over their Superlight 5s. If my current Fender Dimensions get too heavy as I get older, it’ll be a Superlight that replaces them. Dimension’s an excellent choice (I’m hopelessly biased) but yeah won’t ever sound like a Ray. Two humbucking soap bars for me every time.
  10. Well, you live and learn! I’d never heard of the Performer. I like! Wiki says a 5 string proto was made… yes please! Bless ‘em - nobody wants a fender bass unless it’s a P or a J! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fender_Performer_Bass
  11. Really?!? Well, the world’s a twisted place!
  12. Ah! Excellent. I don’t know what instagram is so I’ll take your word for it 😬
  13. The TB thread on this states that the forthcoming adaptor will draw power from the control port (so, 1/8” TRRS) on the C4 etc. And there’s talk of 3.3v so I’m guessing the other end is a 5 pin DIN? Cabling wise (because of no thru capability) the pedal attached would need to be end of chain or fed from a midi splitter (especially if using 2 of them i guess). In a MIDI over TRS world, 1/8” or 1/4” as options instead of 5 pin DIN would give flexibility, but maybe not technically possible? I’m kinda assuming it’ll only work for the ‘current gen’ of the smaller One pedals (C4 onwards). I’d guess the older pedals like aftershock don’t have the required smarts. And the larger pedals are just ‘native midi’ so wouldn’t need this. I bit the bullet and bought the Neuro Hub, but for one or two SA pedals the adaptors would seem a good choice. Some thoughts, there 😃
  14. That blows my mind. I don’t think I’ve ever done a gig where I’ve not been on the right with my mate Timbo on my left. It would freak me out!!
  15. Yeah! I get the theory but all that happens is that I get blisters and all anyone can hear is the bass! Basically, I love gigging but I’m the musical equivalent of a Neanderthal cave dweller 😅 Surgical Spirits by the way… not meths.
  16. 3/5 of the main band out tonight at The Old Ship Inn, Pointon. No lead guitarist, Kev The Keys filling in on drums. Erm… he’s better than the drummer! Absolutely nailed it all night. didn’t speed up during every guitar solo… No audience again. But we played really, really well. Stupidly tight - we’ve played together for 20+ years mind but even so: Kev’s never drummed in this band and we only managed a quick rehearsal earlier this week. I got to do the harmonies all on my own all night. Loved it. Got a great sound from PA and back line. Plucking fingers are a MESS and sore despite superglue. Developed a new blister on ring finger due to using it in lieu of middle finger. Few weeks off now for them to heal and harden…
  17. Excellent work as always @0175westwood29- LOVE the Jag as well!
  18. Gig 4 with the new covers band and The Saga Of My Fingertips #enoughalready We played the Dragonfly, Herlington, Orton Malborne, Peterborough. Y’know the pub in Ch4 TV series Shameless? Paid rehearsal: no audience, no interest but we played well and tried out a few new ones seeing as it was just us plus a (few) friends and Frank Gallagher. Played the best yet, it’s starting to gel now I’ve taken over the PA and mixing so everyone can hear everything. That done I need to crank my BVs back up in the mix and polish my harmonies. 20+ years of five really good harmony singers in the other (main covers / showband / party animal) band is proving difficult to relearn with a new (but very capable) singer. I love harmony singing. Would rather do it all night than one killer lead vox. More judicious effects usage this evening, even slipping in a couple of synths without scaring the horses. C4 + MIDI ftw. Angelina in use tonight: USA Deluxe Fender Dimension V through a GK RB700II and a Barefaced BB2. All bass guitar, all the time. Lovely sound. This band plays dropped half a tone so Angelina (on the left) is for this band and Betsy (on the right) is tuned standard for t’other band. Who are out tomorrow night. Two gigs in one weekend?!?! Superglue in use. All finger tips gone. 😜
  19. Looks like a cool venue… let us know how it went. Tidy set up there by the way. A few points deducted for not listing the bass gear in use, which I’m sure you’ll correct 😝
  20. Stick a fork in me, I’m DONE. Pretty good chance that this isn’t just A Jazz Bass, it’s THE Jazz Bass. If I had the money I would buy this before you’d even put it on sale. Good grief. EDIT: it’s no good, I’ve just been sick everywhere. IT’S GOT LOLLIPOP TUNERS
  21. Damn. Spoke too soon re: The Saga Of My Fingertip. Washed the car today…. No more scab / hard skin. Cut the remains away, been dipping in surgical spirit. Rehearsal Tuesday, gigs Friday and Saturday. My friend:
  22. I have no real idea if this IS D&B and/or jungle. Always liked that style / sound but didn’t really seek it out. Though this I have on CD and I think this is brilliant. There’s some GREAT music in here:
  23. Good shout! Ali from Red Snapper is a GREAT upright player. So much good stuff in their back catalogue!
  24. Interesting reading about folk’s experience of the ACS. Never had that problem, even with singing and (much reduced now past 40) jumping around. Keep thinking I ought to get new moulds given how long I’ve had them but tbh they feel fine, they fit well. Left ear’s still buggered but that was pre-plug purchase so we can’t blame them for that! 🤣
  25. And we weren’t loud but my ears are ringing despite having the ACS moulded plugs in all evening. How anyone can gig without ear protection is beyond me. Don’t buy that pedal you’ve been after - purchase proper moulded plugs instead. Don’t be like the drummer and say “eh?” every time anyone speaks.
