  1. For years I actually thought it was Neil Young singing it. I can't stand his voice, so consequently hate Horse With No Name.
  2. It's just the football thing for me. Im sure I would quite like it otherwise 😄
  3. I couldn't honestly tell you how it goes. I just can't get past the horrible vocals. As soon as I hear it I have to leave the room or turn it off. I may as well add that I do the same with "You'll Never Walk Alone", but just for different reasons. 😄
  4. Place Your Hands by Reef. That song could drive me to murder. The way the singer mangles his vowels. He sounds like he has a mouthful of rubber bands.
  5. I have an odd fondness for it, but only because I heard a band, in a bar, in Barcelona playing it, only, with the Catalan accent, it sound like Mooostangh Sallee. I found that very amusing
  6. Anything by Robbie Williams, especially "Angels" "Let Me Entertain You". Rubbish music, dreadful lyrics, crap singer. "Zombie" by The Cranberries. Tedious and boring to play.
  7. Yep, I think we paid somewhere in and around that for our wedding band nearly 15 years ago. My guitar tutor also plays in a band but teaches as the main job.
  8. buying a car is like making love to a beautiful bass guitar... have I got that right?
  9. Many years ago, I bumped into an old school friend who played bass. When he found out that I also played, he insisted on lending me a "Learn to Play Slap Bass" book, despite me not expressing any interest in playing slap. Shortly after that, I ended up moving and lost contact with him. I still have the book and think I only ever tried to play slap once.
  10. I think I know the band you are talking about. I saw Slash playing in the Royal Oak last week and Axl is our local Amazon delivery driver. 😄
  11. In The Court of The Crimson King by King Crimson on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show. The Radio 2 Breakfast Show!!! King Crimson!!! 😲
  12. I saw Lou Reed not long before he died. I was a bit worried as he had a reputation for tinkering with song arrangements and so on, but he was amazing. Played the whole Berlin album straight with "Satellite..." as an encore. Your favourite artist's best days may be behind them, but just occasionally they will pull off something special and you will want to be able to say you were there.
  13. From the John Peel Session in 1977 - at 1:43:55 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001mzmh
  14. Not right now, but earlier, on Radio 2, Vernon Kay played a version of "We Will Rock You" as a 12 bar blues, from an old BBC session Queen did. It was quite the difference from the usual version.
  15. English may not be his first language. Or Earth may not be his (or her) home planet.
  16. Number 3 on this list... 😆 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-66013118
  17. So, what you are saying is well done Bernie Taupin... 😄
  18. I don't like Elton John and his voice is still very "I'm Dill Danding" ( I understood about three words in The beach is Back), but he is putting on a good show for those who like him and the band are great. Guitarist is superb I didn't know Clinton Baptiste could play guitar), as is the bassist. The sound is so much better than GnR and Blondie got.
  19. I thought GnR weren't too bad. It took Axl a while to get his voice warmed up and it started to go again near the end. Rick Astley was great doing the Smiths stuff with Blossoms. If only they had dragged Johnny Marr over to join in. Pretenders sounded fantastic. Did anyone else see the Touareg desert blues band that played? Weird and brilliant.
  20. I'm going to see Stiff Little Fingers in August. Peter Hook and the light are on the bill, as is Mr Matlock. I'm not sure if he'll have his own band or will be playing with someone else.
  21. Bienvenue (not sure if that's the appropriate word for welcome to an online forum, rather than an airport, but welcome anyway)
  22. I haven't tried any of the Sonic basses, but I'm getting one of the Telecasters for my daughter. It's a decent instrument, well put together and plays nicely. I'd imagine the basses are of a similar quality.
