1. Funnily enough, the 'standard' two finger technique has quite a few flaws in itself - ie, crossing strings, upstrokes and limited dampening... and is far from ideal.
 2.
Is there any footage of Jamerson playing, showinghis amazing technique? I did a YouTube search once and only found photo stills set to music.
This is the best example: Shows his dampening technique, hand position and plucking (which I think includes 2-way plucking on the one finger)
 3. Example
 4.
Somewhere in darkest north east England there is a very pretty piece of ash with my name on it. It's shaped, coincidentally enough, like a Precision bass. So, I have a blank Precision body, and although I'll be more than happy to let the builder in question do everything pretty much as Leo did 60 years ago, I'm considering a few minor deviations from the traditional. Anyone got any interesting ideas? Chris
You're strictly traditional in your tastes, aren't you? You don't seriously want 'new ideas', do you?
 5. Wow. The midi Wals are incredibly rare!
 6. Number 3 is head and shoulders above the other two in terms of sound and clarity.
 7. There's no better bass than a Wal and that's a beauty. Congrats
 8.
Well he's gradually coming down... £1100
Hmmm interesting. Keep the £550 offers going in, guys.
 9.
I've seen that listing before... or at least all of that info and pics etc, possibly on another forum or such! I'll offer him £500 for you.
Much obliged....
 10.
All the way from Vilnius, Lithuania.
Yes, I noticed. Should that worry me?
 11.
Half a dozen guys off here making offers of £550 aught to get them to warm to your offer.
Indeed. Come on, chaps!
 12.
Make them an offer.
I did. I offered £670. The seller then offered me a bargain £1500. AFRs go for anywhere between 600 and 800 euros/pounds normally.
 13. Ibanez AFR fretless at....jeeeezzz ...£1599! One of my dream basses is up for sale at an enormously inflated price http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...#ht_3251wt_1052
 14. The Burns bass......temptation
 15. Could be interesting as I don't know anything about GB basses...
 16. Is that for one of your students?
 17. Very interesting. Thanks for posting
 18.
Sandberg made a 2 string bass which I saw in an old issue of BGM or BP. Full size body I think, looked very odd. Also remeber Tony Levin's 3 string Stingray? I have been trying to find a picture of it for ages but I seem to remeber it got caught up in a house fire he had.
19.
The Gallery sell them in Camden. That's where I bought mine about 18months ago. Just sold it to another forum member, and it's on the way to Greece as I type. They are really nice basses, and I don't have a bad word to say about them, so well worth trying out if you can. I think the pre-amp is very musical and versatile, I couldn't get a bad tone out of it. Playability was fantastic too. The BN5 fretless I tried at the Gallery was also a very awesome instrument. Main reason I sold mine to to help fund a nice fretless 5, and that could turn out to be an F, if I find one with fret inlays.
The gallery website says they're "special order" so I suppose there's no opportunity to try one out in the shop anymore.
 20. By the way, I really like the way the design reminds me of a a shakuhachi flute. It almost looks like it was made from bamboo. I love that kind of thing - a new design that has a relationship with a particular culture and the past. Beautiful.
 21.
Spoombung - from the Ishibasi Ubox. Unfortunately they're not particularly keen on dealing with foreign sales these days except through their eBay store where the selection is far less extensive and also far too mainstream for my tastes. Luckily I had a bit of help.
Thanks for the info. I've got a few friends in Tokyo that may be able to help me out too...
 22. Oh man, I've wanted an Atlansia (of any kind) for ages - but that is a real find. Congratulations, I'm jealous. Where did you find it, BTW?
 23.
Can I ask why you need the tab? What's wrong with using your ears and working it out from the recording?
Yeah. Ears are all for hearing!
