1. Sounds very 80's with the over-amplified, reverb-drenched drums and clanking bass.
 2. Where do you guys buy strap pins knobs pickups pick guards tuning keys fret files nuts etc etc etc in the UK? (not in Euro Zone)
 3. I still think it's a good idea to get the Brook guys to put it on the 'Shop' part of their website; they'll be very happy to help. I'm sure it's more likely to sell there than here, in all honesty... and it would be a shame to undervalue it here. You've got it for a very low price considering it's a world class instrument.
 4. I've had only one practice routine for the last 15 years. I play the melody line fromThe Teddy Bear's Picnic in as as many keys as possible. I find the fingering incredibly difficult and rarely manage to play the whole tune. I kid you not.
 5.
For those of you who havent had chance to try the Little Bastard yet, just spotted Guitarist Mag have put their review online - http://www.musicradar.com/gear/all/amplifi...d-284590/review
I'm not surprised the guitarists like it. It's a guitarist's amp.
 6.
I recorded a short medley of two "Shadows"-themes with my Wal bass... the soundquality is not superb and the playing could be better but it was just for fun :-) Don't know how to embed so here's the link.. 7.
Indeed. I only want one jazz JC 4 HE/M2 pickup...comes to €87.99 with delivery. Phew.
It was too expensive in the end. There was a further €15 for shipping that didn't appear in the itemised bill making the pickup considerably more expensive than the actual bass it was going in to! That's against my principles so I've now cancelled the order.
 8. Anyone got a pic of the ACG operation?
 9. The Burns sound on the Gainsbourg records is one of my all-time favourite sounds so if it's anything like this, I'm in:
 10. Try the Ibanez SR300 for round £250 Or the Peavey Cirrus BXP for around £400 Both have slim comfy necks and active EQ
 11. Good luck old chap...and let's hope your powers of recall haven't faded too much over the years (concerning the 42 songs )
 12.
So I wonder, what IS a bad bass player?
A boring one.
 13.
the wonders of basschat!!! thanx man that's exactly what I'm after
16.
So after I have strung this beast of a string, how am I going to hear myself? My current rig finds it hard to project a low A at lower volumes, let alone a whole string below. What kind of money am I looking at to be heard at these low pitches?
My guess is you won't hear it at all, whatever you do.
 17. Nicely done. Thanks for posting
 18.
I've been tinkering around trying to mod a 30w amp to have enough headroom for clean bass. Here's what I have so far:
Bloody 'ell.
 19.
83's really aren't the ideal valve for the drive section in any amp, 81's do a much better job, 82's an even better one and 12bh7s / ecc99's even better than that!
Perhaps Ashdown should take note about where they're going wrong then!
 20.
You have the option of simply changing the two preamp valves yourself.... ECC83's will give you 100% of the available gain. ECC81's will give 70 - 80%. ECC82's will give 20- 30%. Simply remove the wooden case and start swapping to find the gain that suits you and your bass.
I'm from a generation that were told that electricity was dangerous.
 21. I absolutely love 'Summer Day'
 22.
I found a way of lowing the input gain by replacing the two ECC83 valves for ECC82's. These have around 20% of the power of the ECC83. This has stopped the preamp from distorting completely. If you want distortion just crank up the master volume. Its a very cheap fix. Mine sounds great with the new valves, warm and juicy with no fuzzy distortion.
Brilliant, sounds like you've found the ideal solution. I'd be interested in hearing it. Perhaps Ashdown should offer that as an option?
 23.
there's alot more distortion going on on bass than you think, try some out for yourself in a band situation. Also try not playing on full to get less distortion.
Well I like some slightly distorted sounds like Chris Squire's, for instance, but this was waaaay over the top. I thought it could do with a re-design, personally.
