  1. I tried using those before (on KiOgon's Jazz harness a while back), wasn't happy as the knob becomes eccentric and it made my head hurt!! (OCD-ish). I'll ask KiOgon. Thanks for tips.
  2. Having a run around with this. I have a '98 US built Precision Special (a P/J as it's known). The original tone pot is duff, signal drops, earth buzz etc. Ordered what I thought was right from Northwest, but it was just a standard size version which won't fit cavity (tone pot occupies space originally made for the jack on a std Precision so needs to be smaller size than standard). So I'm looking for a source of a decent quality mini pot (250k I believe) with the solid 1/4" shaft (to take std Precision knob). I sent wrong one back to Northwest but they have now shipped a split shaft pot... utterly useless. Anyone know where I can get a decent quality replacement for the tone pot - can't be so hard as Mexico make P/Js these days I believe, not like it's that rare. Help appreciated.
  3. Mick (Formerly Marleaux 62 with feedback) bought my PJB 6B. Quick decision, no messing and payment ahead on trust. Excellent Basschatter - trade with confidence. Thanks Mick, & enjoy the cab!
  4. Lifelong bass player but guitars have been a close second. Always fancied a Tele - particularly fond of the bridge p/u with a bit of scoopy eq and maybe a hint of delay, even a touch of chorus. Very happy with this one, a MIM vintage reissue in faded Fiesta red. The original very white scratchplate has been replaced with a parchment one. Waiting on Strings Direct to get my 10-46s to me (overpriced and slow, one star review for them). The other thing is a mountain (or appalachian) dulcimer, which I built. Back & sides flamed sycamore, top spruce, board ebony. It has a nice sound - they are a bit odd. I added 2 frets where the purists don't have them (min 3rd and maj 7th). The trad mountain ducimer is basically fretted for a mixolydian scale if you played all frests up to the octave. It's normally 4 strings in 3 courses, so a double top string. Tuned (most often) DAD so the lower A & D act mostly as drones, with quite a few chords available. Can be heard on Joni Mitchell - a Case of You and one or two others. Also on the Plant Krauss album - the track 'Long Journey'. Fun to build, fun to play for a short while. Like when I got a tenor Uke during lockdown. Got bored fairly quickly. The Tele however, well that is mighty fine and packed full of challenges. (just mention I bust one of top strings on dulcimer, easily done. So it's currently a 3 stringer, which some serious US players use anyway.)
  5. Used for minutes on a Precision thru-body. Switched to EB Cobalts as prefer the brightness. Cover post at cost, all yours.
  6. Used in a small studio (NS10s, 8" JBLs and similar). Ideal for near-field monitor mounting. Note cabs need to be rectilinear (straight edges) in order to mount securely. Max depth front to back approx 240mm. They adjust for height, angle in both planes. Proper pro gear, just not used anymore. Free to Basschat home but please cover UK post (prob a fiver).
  7. Top trading with Ed. He bought my Sansamp, fast, no messing about, really good chats along the way. Excellent Basschat member. And check out his band Heilung... wow!!
  8. Free to UK post. Outside UK please ask. As new, hardly used. Note parametric mids - that's main reason I chose this one. Velcro-ready, otherwise mint.
  9. If you like PJB you'll love this. It is absolutely as new and way under half price. Absolutely as new (truly all-over mint), very light home use only. This is the 6 x 5" with Neo drivers. Rated 300W (6 Ohm)*, weight 20Kg (see spec pic). Has big wheels at back, a large carry handle recessed into top and a retracting suitcase-style handle at rear. Front ported which I greatly prefer. I have mainly run it with a GB 900 (valve pre)- love the sound. It's a very clean cab - what you hear is the bass and the amp. Anyway, it's an extra I don't need so has to go. No trades and not up for shipping as don't have suitable packaging. But will meet a reasonable distance. *The 6ohm is unusual but due to 6 x 4ohm drivers wired in series/parallel = 6.
  10. Pair of robust wall brackets for small / mid-size monitors. Designed / intended for studio near-field monitors. Adjustable vertically and rotate horizontally. Note the cabs need to be straight-edged - straight along bottom front and rear edges, in order to fit to the stand clamps. Used them with a pair of fine US built JBLs, previously pair Yamaha NS10s. Max size depth (front-to-back) approx 240mm. Can't comment on weight limit but if they fit size-wise will surely be ok for weight. The brackets are solid. Very good condition. Free to Basschatters who will know what these are for. Tried them on Gumtree and just got the usual idiot traders.
  11. Hi Mike - definitely 6 ohm, 6 x (I assume) 4ohm drivers wired series + parallel . Don't know the rating on the Markbass - is it 800 into 4 ohm? So into 8 would be around 450, into 6 around 630 (approx guesses). I ran it with a Genz 900 (so 900 into 4 ohm) - obviously never used or needed anywhere near full power and the Genz could probably fry the 300w pjb If cranked right up. Let me know if interested, can always get together and hook the Markbass up. Might be a tads biased, but the Genz Benz (now sold) into this pjb..... bloody sublime.
  12. Really as new, unmarked, even original display sticker on top. I have gigged this a few times (pre-covid) but no live work so sadly must go. It is honestly the best head I've had ever (maybe the old all-valve Trace was also up there). Personal taste but I'd been through TCs, Aguilar, Ashdown - I like this one best. Ran it mainly with a GK 410 btw, then a GB 1208. pre-amp gain works really well - very progressive warmth, valvy sound. Everything works perfectly, silent pots, all front lights - and the backlit Genz panel lights up a very tasty blue. Basically nothing to report - it's a right good un. Complete with GB custom bag for the 900 - fits perfectly with pouch at front for mains and Speakon. Has original box it came in. Not after trades, sorry!
  13. Absolutely as new (truly all-over mint), very light home use only. This is the 6 x 5" with Neo drivers. Rated 300W (6 Ohm), weight 20Kg (see spec pic). NOTE, has big wheels at back, a large carry handle recessed into top and a retracting suitcase-style handle at rear. Front ported which I greatly prefer. I have mainly run it with a GB 900 (valve pre)- love the sound. I'd describe it as extremely honest - no significant cab colouration. Of particular note - the highs are super-smooth (no HF unit as the 5s deliver the HF) and integral to the overall sound. On the GB I dial in pre-amp drive to warm it all up. Anyway, It's up for sale as I don't have a use for it now. Not up for shipping as don't have suitable packaging. But will meet a reasonable distance.
  14. Anyone happen to know who played bass on 'Ain't no stoppin' us now': McFadden & Whitehead ('79). Had a google around but no luck so far. A bit tasty!

Looks like it was James Williams who's played on quite a few known tracks 👍

Thanks Ace - yes, looks right. Apparently he played on most O'Jays tracks and this song was maybe first penned for them but writers decided to keep it. Call me anorak 😂. Cracking soul player

  15. Just got some patch leads from Mark - fast, well packed, brilliant price and pleasure to deal with. 5 stars from me.
  16. I find the Harley Benton chorus BCH-1 and the Behringer vintage delay VD400 both shockingly good, for silly money. I have and have used several Boss and TC - but I use the HB chorus by choice.

I like the tort - it suits the period of bass very well, the original would have been tort... all looks very proper.
  18. Dave Wilson in Hexham is highly recommended, by me and quite a few others here. He did my P from original poly 3TSB to LPB nitro about 2 years ago - cost then around £320, maybe a bit more now. Find him on FB or someone here will have a number Here's the thread that got me sorted, I think some LPB Precision shots in there too - really perfect finish.
  19. Currently using the 'white' LaBellas, and have done some time - like 'em for what sound I want. But interested in the Galli - Bass Direct? I may give them a go. As for the rounds/flats / nylon debate, totally depends on the bass, the player and the sound wanted. If I was stringing a Jazz right now I'd probably put EB Cobalt flats on. On my Mayones playing with a more unplugged ensemble, I use the LaBellas. If I really wanted the rounds sound (on the ficticious Jazz) I'd probably need a pro finish on the fingerboard first because they do chew boards up over time.
  20. Totally agree. Puts me off. The 'signature' is normally some kind of mod that suits that player, his style, strings, live sound etc etc. I dallied recently with a Martin 000 acoustic, good used about 2.5k, Eric Clapton signature version a few hundred more plus it has a bloody signature on the actual fingerboard. Bunch of a*se.
  21. Seriously didn't recognise her, and didn't think to check line-up. I'll go investigate Crooked Still some more.
  22. Great find, excellent! D-bass and 'cello groove is quite something, and 'cello solo, then banjo... 👋 Vocal sounds quite like Aoife O'Donovan I thought. Dead good.
