Through-neck MIJ/MIK Precision thing, 1980-ish.

Very unusual - not a brand you see in the UK too often. Really like the grain on the body of this. For the morbidly curious, Luxor was a Euro (probably German) importer brand. There was a US Luxor brand in the 1920s but these aren't related. Like most 70s JapCrap J copies this would have had ashtrays originally - it's probably the same bass as this Cimar: http://www.ibanez.co.jp/anniversary/14/7.jpg The one on the left, that is.

Don't worry Dave - I can make you another one... No freebies, mind. J.

Fine feller, Foxen - just flogged me a cheap neck which I like quite a lot. Jon.

I think this still counts, it is - or rather was - one of those grotesque little Taiwanese Kay things. It got what it deserved: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OLD-BASS-GUITAR-NEED...E-/380248505574 The seller says it needs a miracle. It does. The miracle of fire. J.

I suppose I might as well forget about it now. Frank
If the ad's still running, have a go! J.

This is a new one on me - and that doesn't happen too often! Intriguing looking thing, obviously it's going to be very light, but I'm trying to get my head around the idea of the point of a headless bass that simply transfers the the headstock to the other end - this must be pretty much the same length as most headed basses. That said, I'm a sucker for a weird bass and for vintage JapCrap (I doubt this was part of Hondo's Korean output) so if I had the money (or if it was half the price) I'd be all over this like a rash! :brow: Jon.
Very much Ply inside. Here's a link to the flickr set I did of the TRC, it's got some kind of sticker inside, makes me think of fakery. Oh, and Jon, if you want to see what I did to your wonderful TRC work, I'm about to make a build thread on the Rickenbastard. It might make you cry...
No link! I'm looking forward to seeing what you've done to the trc. And don't worry, takes a lot to make me blub these days! J.
Hmm, the plot thickens - this bass is not the MC30TH, but one from the early 80s - it has the usual exposed pole pieces on the pickups, a dark ebony touchboard, and dark stain - the bass in question has serial G806058 - and an inlay at the 24th fret that says "Limited Edition". I'd post some pics, but can't seem to attach tonight!
Sounds interesting - have you tried asking/searching the boards at ICW? The Ltd Edition thing sounds faintly familiar. That serial makes it July 1980 - 30 this month! J.

That's very nice - and you'll find a fair few vintage Ibby fans around here. Something in the middle of Andy67's price range is a pretty good ballpark figure, I'd think. Your bass is a Roadster RS800BS, like the one in this 1979 catalogue: http://www.ibanez.co.jp/anniversary/expans...id=42&now=4 Can't go for it myself at the moment, but good luck! Jon.
Hey Jon. Here's a scan of your Satellite bass from an old book I have. Sorry about the quality, my scanner is sh*te!
Thanks for that - very interesting, what's the book? I do remember seeing these when they first appeared, think it would've been 1980. My local shop had them for £99 and I remember being impressed at a through-neck that cheap, and then rejecting the idea out-of-hand, simply because they said "Satellite" on the end. Glad I grew out of brand snobbery! This also clears up another thing - I'd got it into my head that Satellite was owned by JHS. Wrong bunch of letters! J. -
Cheers for the pm`s im getting from you guys, all good offers, whats the best method you guys use to ship guitars about???,only thing worrying me is i dont have a hard case or such to send it in.
Whereabouts are you? I see from your intro post you're in Scotland - I'm in Edinburgh so if you were interested in my Ibby we might be able to meet up. Otherwise, I'd recommend whipping off the strings, unbolting the neck, bubble-wrap both bits thoroughly & then bung both bits in a sturdy cardboard box, packed out with loads of scewed-up newspaper. J.

Can I interest you in an Ibanez SR800LE? This one's 1990, made in Japan, very light, very versatile active EQ, and one of the thinnest, fastest necks I've played. I've had this one for 10 years, and to be honest haven't really played it in the last 7, since getting bitten by the "vintage" bug. It's in excellent condition, with a few very minor bumps & scuffs & negligible fretwear around the first 5 positions. Jon.

Look closely at the headstock & you can see this one used to be a Satellite - wasn't me, the logo was already gone when I got it! In the US these turn up with Memphis logos, and there are a few different variations - the fretless is quite common. Really the only reason I'm selling is too many Ps and no real use for them - and it's a bit 'eavy! My back's not what it once was... J. -
Now sold on Ebastard. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...tem=12059091186 This has a couple of issues - reamed truss adjuster, dents under E string on the 13th & 16th frets but it's a really nice, playable bass. No point in me waffling on about it - the pictures & Ebay guff tell it like it is! The listing's on for another week but obviously I'll pull it if anyone here fancies it. Jon.
