I actually loved the stuff he did with Paul Young; I think his use of a Musiman Fretless sold the idea of a fretless being cool to then young bass players much like Mick Karn did around the same time. I know when my son first showed an interest I played him the first Paul Young Album and he was very impressed - much liek his old man ;-)

Guy's n Girls, Looking at possibly splashing out for a Sadowsky Metro Bass, anyone any experience of them? or possibly own one? There's a nice long waiting list so I may dip into the good second hand market - anyone want to talk me into or out of buying one? Cheers, Steve.

Was thinking of investing in a cheaper bass following recent expensive acquisitions, I like the look of the CV's and from reading your reviews guy's I think I'll go try one out forthwith! Snobbery ain't gonna stop me! ;-)

Good points by all, but having always played the lower end of the spectrum and recently forked out for higher end instruments it was obvious as soon as I plugged it in why expensive is better. Better finish, better materials, better electrics superior sound and tone. Horses for courses I guess...

This seem strange as I contacted Lakland recently about purchasing a finish other than the Blue and they responded with other new finishes will be available soon?

Folks, Just a wee heads up that the ex Japan Fretless wonder is realising his autobiography in November, should be a good read for us Bass players as Mick is a stunningly unique bassist. I may have to dig out some old Japan albums to hear that lovely Wal Fretless and of course his old Travis Bean. Steve.
