I have always found that contacting before ordering is the best way to go. I usually say something like I have to have it within a week as I am out of the country after that for x number of weeks and need to take it with me. Also you would be suprised how much power saying you are a regular conributor to this website holds ;-)

Whoops, too late placed the order. But managed to get it at a pretty good price at £599 which is £70 less than GAK and a massive £170 less than the Gallery (are they sure?) Passive? the active circuitry not so good then? Checked out a few via the tube and Lakland sound files and it sounded very bright with a good mix of tones. Steve.
I have and it was good in a passive way, but for the same price as a newbie 44-01 you can pick up a mint 44-02 which is just that bit extra. Got mine from Josh on here and it is superb. Regards Rich
SOLD pending Payment Following a recent purchase I need to do some recouping of funds to keep her indoors happy. I have a 1980/81 top of the range Aria SB1000, I'll stick some pics up later but its in very good condition for an instrument of some years only a couple of superfical marks all original parts including the original Aria case (which is ok but could do with some attention to the latches. I will be sad to see this go having been a bit of a John Taylor nut in my teens (I was young!) but my pending purchases require I give serious thought to a clear out! I'll take some good quality pics and highlight the surface marks etc. It has the older bat wing head which in my opinion is much better than the latter version, it sounds as good today as it did in 1982 when I was playing Rio on it and the like! (I did say I was young!!) I did buy another one a few years back so I won't be totally without... Offers? NEW Pics Added Will also consider a trade...

Hey nice bass, I am sure this will go very quickly! Iron Maiden were the first band I saw live back in 80/81 (god I am old) I used to have the hair to match! Ah sweet memories! I guess your after the Fender Steve Harris P now ;-) I played one a few days back and its perfect! Good luck with the sale!

Anyone tried the bottom of the range? the 44-01? its meant to be a good all rounder for the price? Thinking of investing and I can't stretch to a grand plus!

That 78 Jazz in blue looks a bit like Les Pattisons of the Bunnymen, very nice!

Apologies if their is forum already set up for this stuff but try as I might I couldn't locate one! I have spent that last few day's trawling the web to try and locate a Lakland 44-01 bass despite finding a few sites that offered to sell me one none had any in stock, in fact the only place that could get me one quick wanted me to cough up nearly £800 for one when GAK for example could get me one for £669 but couldn't guarantee a delivery date - do these guys not check each others prices out!? I have found one at a shop called MB music, anyone had any positive/negatice dealings with them? Cheers, Steve.

Aria Pro 2 SB elite 2/SBr-80 pearl white
bassatnight replied to gafbass02's topic in Basses For Sale
As a bit of an Aria SB nerd I have always believed that Gold finish on the tuners is Elite only. Mike's right, apart from the gold hardware they are the same bass. I might have to sell my SB1000 have you seen how much they go for these days!
Good luck with the sale Gaf, a fine chap and a pair of decent basses. Bizarrely, when I bought the Aria, the seller said it was an Elite II but when I ran it past some Aria fans who know their stuff, I was told it was an R-80 although I think I've read somewhere that the two models are virtually the same instrument.....weird! All the best mate. Mike
-

Gents, Check out Machinehead musics website, they have the real Mcoy bought from Sothebys in 2003 its a Lakland semi acoustic they have it up for sale at a cool £2,500. I used to live in Hitchin where Machinehead are based and have bought lots of stuff of them in the past so I know this is pucker!

Japan anyone? I loved the Quiet Life and Polaroids album and what about Mick Karn!? Simple Minds had a great Bass player in Derek Forbes, Sons and Fasination and for some good slapping on a Fender P the follow up album New Gold Dream. I liked the Associates and thier 3rd Album Sulk is a classic. Strange thing about the 80's most of the 'pop' bands had great Bass Players!? A shout for Echo and the Bunnymen!

Now why didn't I think of that!? ;-) First thing I checked... looks like I am stuck with it sadly ;-(
Forgive me but have you checked the battery?
I have a 70's reissue which plays like a dream and have owned Squiers in the past I think price is the best marker between the qualities. The MIM's in theory are a better bass hense the price difference, but there's not too much in it. I would always hold out for an American which will be good 99% of the time - mind you it will cost you! Bass snobs with a grand plus basses will always look down there noses at Squiers, but its horses for courses and for the money they are hard to beat.

Lakland Darryl Jones 4 Lake Placid Blue/Rosewood
bassatnight replied to funkle's topic in Basses For Sale
Apologies to Pete, I had my heart set on this Bass and spent my holiday salivating over the pics. Out of the blue I have now joined the swelling ranks of the unemployed and am looking so forward to my appointment tomorrow at the local JSA (whatever that is!) I have to say Pete was brilliant and understanding and whoever buy's this baby is dealing with a top bloke. Any vacancies out there for a Project Manager!? Steve.
Hi all, This is back on the market. Apparently, bassatnight has just been made redundant, and cannot afford to go ahead with the purchase. I wish him the best of luck, but in the meantime, it's back up for sale! Pete
-

Cheers Guy's, I must admit the Lakland is favorite. I'll have a look at the one for sale on here. Cheers, Steve.

I was wondering if anyone out there had any advice for me regarding a forthcoming purchase I intend to make. I have a budget of around £700 and was originally set on either a 70's resissue Jazz or a decent P, a pro player I know suggested I look at Laklands I appreciate its the age old question between a P and a Jazz but just to add to my confusion having heard a few Laklands on you tube and the Lakland website now I am really in need of experienced advice. I am a little worried about dipping into the second hand market after getting burnt with a dodgy Stingray a few years back off the Bay.

Hi Gents, I have a potential big problem, my 1980 Aria SB1000 has gone all quiet on me! It may be an age thing but my Aria has recently decided to not send a lovely signal to my amp. A few weeks back it developed a slight buzz to its sound and after swapping the batteries having a look at any obvious elecrical issues it is now silent both in active and passive modes. I have a terrible feeling that the pre-amp has died. Can anyone recommend a good repairman in the Bexhill/Hastings/Eastbourne area? Much Obliged! Cheers, Steve.

Hi, About two weeks ago one of my prized possesions a 1980 Aria SB1000 started developing a strange buzziness to its usually lovely warm jazzy sound. I tried all of the obvious; changed the batteries, leads, switched amps you name it but now when Passive mode is selected I get a barely audiable fuzzy sound when playing. When I switch to active theres no sound at all, a bass playing pal has suggested I might have a bad pre-amp which sounds very bad and where on earth can I get someone to repair this old but faithul old girl? I am in Bexhill on Sea (East sussex) anyone reccomend a good repair guy? I love the SB and it fits with an 80's cover band I am putting together perfectly. It will cost up to a grand to replace it these days. Advice appreciated. Cheers, Steve.

Wow what a lovely Bass, would love to buy it but not sure the redundancy money will let me play! ;-) Good luck!
1985 Jaydee supernatural in black (serial No 05611) Made of wood, plugs into 'lectric, makes a noise. A beautiful bass, got a few dings but nothing tragic. See photo's. Can't play slap to save my life (and after reading the slap thread, wondered if it should be in a skip???), so it's gathering dust and deserves to be in a home where it gets used. Unsure of it's current value but guess you guys will give me some guidance. Hoping for around £700. If you want to come and plug it in and slap it around, I'm in east yorkshire. Got an Overwater on the way and if I want to keep it (and my soft dangly bits!) then I have to part with one of my collection. I am just looking for a toe-in-the-water fretless so don't want to fork out too much, just in case we don't get on ;-) Cheers, Steve. Really nice player, my first fretless and only a bit of wear on the fingerboard (it's a de-fretted bass) Will be looking for £120?
