Check out the de-fret on this
bassatnight replied to lemmywinks's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Interesting point, E-Bay seem to have soften slightly regarding their Pay-Pal only regime after getting hammered in Australia where someone took them to court over unfair trade conditions by forcing people to offer Pay-Pal as an option. As E-bay all but own Pay-Pal this was seen as them basically double dipping. I am amazed no one has threatened to take them to court over here regarding forcing Pay-Pal on us as their charges have gone up by some 8% in just over two years thanks to double dipping. I have just sold two basses on their an Overwater and a Lakland and put Cheque only on both sales and they said nothing.
Price aside; he was lucky not to get the listing tugged... "cash only please, pay-pal and ebay rip people off enough already." A definite no-no in eBay's books!
-

Wow! What a beautiful bass, I like the Cylinders and when you get such a nice message from the creator its shows his heart is in the right place too. The black and maple finish is wonderful and goes with anything ;-) I am biased as I have a Jazz and a P in the same finish, I'll buy the black one of you and you can get a new one in the finish you require ;-) Cheers, Steve.

Do you think if I tell her indoors that we need a bigger sofa she might let me buy another bass!?
Very nice collection...i think the sofa is just about long enough to add the fretless
Repair shop? The tuner? I am cool D, was lovely to meet you and the family. My son wants to know when your coming down again! I sold the fretless as want something slightly better, really want a Wal which is my teenage dream instrument after growing up with Mick Karn. Cheers, Steve.
I think you need something 80s - an Aria perhaps How's it going Steve? I'm enjoying the SB1000 a lot - more than i thought I would actually. It's at the repair shop at the moment receiving some TLC. I thought you already had a fretless? Take care mate, Derrick
Possibly a Wal, but failing that a Fender P or Stingray.
Nice collection. What fretless are you after then?
Bought Mikes beloved Black Maple Fender P, he was brilliant and very fast and informative. I can't recommend highly enough! When I am next holidaying in Cornwall we must do some serious liver damage with some local brew!

Karns actually a quite chilled out bloke, he Jansen and Barbieri used to play a bit of five a side football back in the day - much to the distain of Mr Sylvian no doubt ;-) Karn has a habit of slagging his own work off, I read an interview where he said that the Dalis Car project was far too pretenious and if it had been down to Pete Murphy it would have been ten times more so!
I used to be friends with a Numoid who hated Mick Karn as he slagged off Numan's 'Dance' album after he played on it. Used to annoy me as Mick Karn is one my music heroes!
Just a Fretless to add to the family and I am done! (until the gas hits me again!) Marcus Miller, Sadowsky Jazz, Fender US P, Fender US Jazz

I prefer to keep mine seperate! ;-)

Didn't Mick Karn play on some of Numans early solo stuff?

Here we have a lovely 2002 Black Fender Jazz, the body work is in excellent condition apart from a mark at the base of the neck. A previous owner changed the bridge to a gold one and the once plastic controls have been upgraded to metal ones. £295, you can either collect or I can post it at additional cost to you. Cheers, Steve.

Hi Andy, The bass looks lovely, but the website seemed a little thrown together. There's no doubt that the Japanese basses are as good as the American versions (possibly better!?) I'd check they have the bass over here otherwise you could up waiting a long time for a delivery. Didn't the Americans get a bit upset at the high quality of the Japanese ones? Steve.
Hi... I wonder if anyone has used these guys to buy grey market jap Fenders? I really have to own one of the basses they have on there. It's a 70's Jazz, 'old lake placid blue' with matching headstock, with the covers etc, or the Teal...or both. But, is £999 a bit steep? What's the general opinion? Thanks Trav
Wow! You weren't wrong Mike it's a beaut! I will certainly give your Fender P a loving home (as soon as good old Parcel force deliver it!) - if you ever miss the Fender and want to swap the JJB for it let me know mate ;-) Steve.

Gents and Ladies, I have recently purchased a US Fender Standard Jazz which although is lovely and mostly in excellent condition there seems to be a problem with the pick up poles beneth the E string, when I play through an amp with the volume at a nice high level the E string seems to be much lower in sound and tone compared to the other three strings. Anyone come accross a fault like this before? The bass is only a year and a half old. Any obvious checks on the pup I can do? Cheers, Steve.
