1. Didn't Mick Karn play on some of Numans early solo stuff?
 2. You can always make me an offer!?
I suppose that's a bit close to the cost of a new one.
3. Here we have a lovely 2002 Black Fender Jazz, the body work is in excellent condition apart from a mark at the base of the neck. A previous owner changed the bridge to a gold one and the once plastic controls have been upgraded to metal ones. £295, you can either collect or I can post it at additional cost to you. Cheers, Steve.
 4. Hi Andy, The bass looks lovely, but the website seemed a little thrown together. There's no doubt that the Japanese basses are as good as the American versions (possibly better!?) I'd check they have the bass over here otherwise you could up waiting a long time for a delivery. Didn't the Americans get a bit upset at the high quality of the Japanese ones? Steve.
Hi... I wonder if anyone has used these guys to buy grey market jap Fenders? I really have to own one of the basses they have on there. It's a 70's Jazz, 'old lake placid blue' with matching headstock, with the covers etc, or the Teal...or both. But, is £999 a bit steep? What's the general opinion? Thanks Trav
5. Wow! You weren't wrong Mike it's a beaut! I will certainly give your Fender P a loving home (as soon as good old Parcel force deliver it!) - if you ever miss the Fender and want to swap the JJB for it let me know mate ;-) Steve.
 6. Welcome to another 4 stringer from Sussex!!
 7. They are a little tilted.
are the pups tilted...a bit down on the E side regarding trying another string...good idea..sometimes its the simplest solution which is the right one...
8. Bugger, missed this one!
 9. Gents and Ladies, I have recently purchased a US Fender Standard Jazz which although is lovely and mostly in excellent condition there seems to be a problem with the pick up poles beneth the E string, when I play through an amp with the volume at a nice high level the E string seems to be much lower in sound and tone compared to the other three strings. Anyone come accross a fault like this before? The bass is only a year and a half old. Any obvious checks on the pup I can do? Cheers, Steve.
 10. She is now on E-bay sadly..... ;-(
 11. No bids so E-bay beckons, I'll keep it up here for today then its off to the Big bay in the sky....
 12. Fraid not, bit out of my way...
I'd love to play this at some point..........don't suppose you're ever travelling through Essex....................?
13. Cheers for the kind comments guys...
Just to add an(other) independent big-up for these basses, I've got a Perception, and it's simply the best all-round bass I've ever had. Wouldn't sell it for the world. They are extraordinary instruments, and Chris is the epitome of customer service. The neck on mine, whilst not as narrow at the nut as a Jazz, is very slim and fast. I couldn't recommend one of these highly enough.
14. Good call, that'll teach me to copy and paste without reading it properly first!
Just to be pedantic - that's a Style B bridge you have there not a style A. The Perception was (is) made in all sorts of similar-but-different permutations. I'm not sure but is this perhaps one of the slightly older ones with Bartolini pickups? I don't think much else is different though.
15. I have to agree, this is one of the rare basses that I would ordinarily keep for good, they are so well constructed and the range of tones is brilliant but it's up against a new Sadowsky - I don't want to be greedy! ;-) Your so right about Chris, he gets back to you instantly with any questions.
I've got the 5 string Perception and it's quite simply the best bass I've ever played. I'm also pleasantly surprised by what a top bloke Chris May at Overwater is if you have any questions and run into any bother. In a nutshell - get it bought - you'll be happy
16. The neck is lightning, very fast. More like a good Jazz neck quite slim with a comfortable C shape. Fretboard: Indian Rosewood Hardware: OW4 Soapbar, 3 band EQ, Hipshot style A bridge, Gotoh machine heads As for the controls to be honest I haven't played with them much but I have found a review of the bass and see techie info below: Common to all the Perception basses are two custom-made soap bar pickups, which are internally fully shielded and hum cancelling with concealed bar pole pieces. To more accurately produce the acoustic character of the instrument, the coils are parallel-wired to give a big open sound. Each of the pickups is managed by an input amplifier stage with its own internal gain preset with a variation of 0 to 10dB, and to prevent crosstalk the blend section is active. The Overwater three-band EQ circuit, originally developed by Chris May and Dennis Cornwell, has recently been upgraded and redesigned by John East of E-Pro. Bass frequency at 40Hz has a cut and boost of 18dB, +/-10dB mid at 1kHz, and for the treble +/-13dB at 4kHz and +/-16dB at 10kHz. There is a bright boost on the pull-up volume switch, which adds 6dB of 5kHz frequency. All of this is governed via three top-hat-shaped controls and a pickup balance, all with positive centre detents as well as the aforementioned pull-up volume control. A Hipshot Style A is the chosen bridge. This is a weighty affair with deep-milled slots to retain the five saddles, alleviating any sideways movement. Each of the saddles carry a roller at the point of strings contact, three grub screws for height adjustment, as well as the obligatory sprung intonation screw. The backplate is slotted to enable fast, effective string changes. On the rear is the flip-top compartment housing the single 9V PP3-type battery, as well as access to the electronics. The jack socket is mounted on the body's edge and is of the Switchcraft type that locks the plug in place — pushing a small button releases it. Handy if you're still using a lead, as it can't be yanked out.
Are you able to tell me about the controls & neck please?
17. I always love to see Basses going back to their former owners as it shows what quality they are in the first place, sorry we couldn't get a trade on Stan. I really need the money after shelling out recently. Looks like the rip off E-Bay may be used with their oh so generous charges!
 18. Have a bump on me! Just bought one of these from a fellow BCer and I have to say they are lovely quality basses with beautiful tones!
 19. Yes, its been well looked after. Will be sad to see it go but with my recent Sadowsky and Fender Jazz arriving it's not getting the work out it deserves sadly. Open to reasonable offers. Cheers, Steve.
That's a sweet looking instrument - looks to be in great condition. I assume this is the same instrument as mentioned in your other thread?
20. As far as I am concerned the matter is closed and I am not going to waste more time on this, as I have stated before if you feel its too much then don't bid! If you want to give me some friendly advice on the price, then fine please do so, but please PM them to me rather than putting your personal point of view. You may feel £600 is too much, somone else might not. Also £600 is a starting point if someone offers me less I may accept it I didn't for one minute think someone would offer me the full asking price and does anyone who sells? the point is this forum isn't the lets sell our basses for rock bottom prices, you feel the £350 you paid is a fair price for a £650 bass I think you did very well particularly if its fairly new, currently the Laklands on E-bay are all at the £600+ mark and some of them are second hand. Ultimately there is no way I am going to sell a 3 week old bass for a 50% mark down price!
 21. Hi Lance, I couldn't fit them all in the picture, I have a few more to put up, bear with me and I'll try to get the pics done today. Cheers, Steve.
hello im confused sorry where is the fender black jazz bass in the photo cause i only see the marcus miller jazz sig Lance PS it doesnt take alot to confuse me lol
22. Blimey this has stirred up a nest, and all at my expense. Just because Mike managed to get a Lakland for a real bargain price does that mean I must sell mine for some 50% off - for a 3 week old instrument!? I have now requested all these personal comments be removed!
But Google very rarely give market value on second hand goods. Mike did give an indication of what he'd sold his 55-01's on the pre-owned market.
23. Thanks Mike, you are quite right. I fully expect not to sell for £600 but I think everyone should put up some kind of starting point. Personal opinions should be sent to me privately and not put on a sales thread at my expense. If someone was struggling to find a Lakland in my finish that they really wanted for example and had tried a few shops (we have all done it) to no avail and was prepared to offer me £600 or close, thats their choice and mine to accept reject it. I bet I could do what they have done to every sale on here, the point is if I think a price is high I just walk away and don't bid. People are putting up personal opinions and making decisions on what is a fair price and what isn't Its not like I am putting up a Fender Squire and asking a grand for it! I am hoping a Moderator will send me a message as I feel the rule you have highlighted pertains to this issue. I have nothing against people having points of view but make them to the Mods or me personally. Cheers, Steve.
I'd like to sympathise with you Mr Bassatnight but you have too many nice basses and it serves you right Seriously though I thought the policy on here was not to quibble over sellers prices in public and as you say effectivelystitch up honest members who just want to sell their stuff. If you don't like the price don't buy or if you feel that you must offer advice because someone is taking the wotsit then surely a PM would be more appropriate. Any moderators advice here? Good luck with your sale. Mike Edit: This from the market place guidlines "5. If you believe the price of the item is too cheap/expensive, then please PM the seller as to why. Do not ridicule or undermine the seller by posting how much you think it's worth or how much it can be gotten for elsewhere, the laws of supply and demand will determine if the item sells at that price". I rest my case
24. Thanks for the kind message Gareth, sanity at last!
Hey I hate the way retailers have such different prices, I know your frustration. I got quoted a lot more for my Lakland ive ordered everywhere else I went, luckily I got a really good price. Good luck with the sale. Gareth
