1. I am not selling it not sure why everyone feels seeing a picture will improve thier judgements!! It could be a picture of an empty shell! lol As soon as it arrives I will put some pics up, the seller claims its an 85 model but going by the black heads and the upgraded pick-ups it looks like an 87 reissue.
No pics, no bass!! I saw a fretted go on Ebay about 2 months ago for £350. G.
2. What a beauty, Good luck with the sale... I can certainly vouch for this young man! Good Seller and buyer. Free Bump
 3. Folks, I have lusted after a Westone Thunder 3 Fretless for as long as I can recall after seeing Henry Thomas on the 80's show Rockschool play one. I had no idea what to pay as these babes come up so rarely. I saw one go for £375 a couple of years back so took a punt at £400 and managed to secure it, its in great conditon did I pay over the odds or just right? I just didn't feel I could hang about. Steve.
 4. Its a shame Aria didn't go for the other finishes with the re-issues like the Paduk or the black...
 5. Hi Derrick, Good to hear from you, to be honest I have been toying with getting one for a while - I don't think I appreciated what a unique sound the SB1000 has until it was gone! ;-) I thought I might go for a SB700 as its basically the passive version of the 1000 (so much lighter!) when I spotted this pair on E-Bay, did a deal with the owner and picked them both up for £1200, I thought it was a fair price as SB1000's change hands for 600/700 these days and the 700 aren't far behind and they are almost new, the guy really looked after them from new. Broke his heart to sell them - but as I said he has more to fall back on. I think the SB's are a work of art! (and I know you do too!) All the best mate, Steve.
My word Steve, that SB1000 is a stunner - even nicer than mine How much did these set you back? And what made you return to the SBs after your flirtation with the Jazzes and Sadowsky? How's the Wal hunt going?Found anything yet? Derrick
6. If a Basschatter wants it off E-Bay it goes.....!!!!!
 7. I am tempted being an old Sb nut and never owned a fretless model. The problem with Sb's is the ri is now available at £800 meaning the costs of the older rarer models is being affected. Any chance of posting some better pictures on here? the ones on the shop website don't do it justice? Going to have a good think about this one so tempted.....
 8. Pm Replied to
PM'd you. Re: a trade option.
9. Cheers Mate, it really is a nice bass and for the money its hard to knock. Bottom of the range or not its made by Status!
Nice Shark you have there - BUMP for a nice bass at bargain money
10. Sunday bump, going on the Bay but first dibs to Basschatters.
 11. Looks like a 1979/80 I think the LED light came in sometime during the production run in 1981.
 12. Crikey, has that not sold yet? Are you the seller per chance?
Oxford Guitar Gallery still has a superb lined fretless example for sale... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...9&hl=sb1000
13. I agree, a really lovely finish. I am so pleased with them both, they are in excellent condition and the necks are perfect. The guy I bought them off has really looked after them he even had the original tags and documents! I didn't leave him short as he still has several others including a beautiful SB1000 with a Paduk finish and a similar grain to my Walnut one. I couldn't help but run through a few old John Taylor and Les Nemes bass lines.... Showing my age, and sadly I have not aged as well as these two! Steve.
Love the grain on the 1000. Needs some photo's in the sunshine I reckon. Pete.
14. Bought these two hunnies of E-Bay, a SB1000 and a SB700 Lovely!!!!!
 15. Oh my what a beauty!
 16. Trades looking thin on the ground, sale price £275 plus shipping cost?
 17. Agree with your sentiments, Aria seem to have tried to cash in on the popularity of the SB1000, particularly as they change hands for up to £700 for a decent one. A lot more thought could have gone into the reissue, John Taylor had a bit of input in his model certainly the machine heads were down to him, they are angled unlike the older models, it's also lighter than my 81 and 83 Sb1000's. My advice to any potential buyers is to try one first
[RANT] That's stretching the definition of "Re-Issue" in my opinion. Compare the "RI" against a 1980 SB-900 (I've attempted to get them to the same scale): The bridge on the RI is a lot nearer to the edge of the body. To do that, and maintain the scale length, they must have cunningly redesigned the body. It's also wider - as well as being a conventional modern high-mass type (as opposed to the original huge lump of cast brass). That'll make it more like an SB-R/Elite with the "Eye" dot markers - narrow at the nut & with a noticable taper absent from the real thing. This may sound trivial, but it screws up the geometry of them. The original Nobuaki Hayashi (H. Noble) design wasn't broken, why Aria have attempted to fix it is beyond me. A straight re-issue (with a 5-string variant) would have made perfect sense, especially with the JT & CB "signature" angle. As it is... I wouldn't touch it with yours. [/RANT] Pete.
18. Folks, Status 5 String Fretless Graphite (Shark?) for trade, surplus since being outgunned by my new Wal fretless. She is a beauty in great condition and has that Mmwwhhha factor... I am looking to trade ideally for one of the following as a back up bass: G&L Fender Jazz OLP Or anything you think I might go for.... Fretted preferably 4 stringer Ps. Comes with fetching Fusion carry case
 19. Played one a couple of days ago and was suitably impressed. Call me nostalgic but prefer the older models, having said that an early eighties on will put you back upwards of £600 so might be worth going for the reissue.
Always liked the look of these SB's...how do the reissues compare? 20. Just seen a Lakland Joe Osbourn on E-Bay for the princely sum of 3 grand! Some people!!!!!! Sorry forgot to post the link but I am sure you can find it....
 21. I am an Aria SB nut and at one point owned no less than six of the beauties, now trimmed down to 3 x2 SB1000 and a SB700. They really are great basses and back in the day the SB1000 was the must have bass for pop bands of the early eighties. The likes of Duran Duran, Haircut 100 etc, lovely range of punchy warm tones. I can't recommend them highly enough. If anyone comes across a 900 or 600 give me a shout!
 22. Malcolm has confirmed still open for business so order away!
