  3. Option # 5) Set up your amp at the far end of the venue car park - run a cable to the stage area near the PA - but, and this is vital - don't plug it in. Back at your amp - don't worry about power etc. - you don't need it. Unpack your 'bass' (Rickenbacker), and tune up normally, but don't connect to your amp. Begin gig. The onstage sound will now be vastly improved, and the equipment being used by your guitarist is no-longer an issue. I really surprise myself at my own genius sometimes!
  4. Clearly not!
  5. Ha! *I've yet to actually forget anything for a gig 'Cos I is organised, innit!
  6. Me too! Then I get to the venue & realise that I've forgotten everything!

    Hello!

    Very true...

    Hello!

    But...he's only just arrived!
  9. For the 'meat & potatoes' bass player' ...
  10. Have thought about this sort of thing for a while, but assumed it'd be of low quality. For that money, it might be worth a punt! Thanks
  11. Yep - your amp is 'old skool' backline - on-stage sound for the band and low end for the room - PA is FoH and for any other monitors on-stage. The volume of your amp and the PA volume are separate, giving you the ability to control the sound levels more closely.
  12. To expand upon my pervious answer - #4)... If it were me, I'd use my amp as a backline, but DI out of the amp (post EQ) into the PA (leaving the PA EQ flat), and pan your PA signal to wherever the band want it.
  13. 4) You're welcome!

    Hello!

    Hiya Aaron
  15. I'll see if I can find the manual for your amp tomorrow & try to work out what cabs will work. At work at the mo & the b*&tards are making me do work things - then rehearsal tonight, but I should have a bit of time tomorrow.
  16. That's no way to talk about @KiOgon (who will know about these ohm thingies)! Sorry - I misread! 4 ohm requires more power from the amp than 8 ohm, so the amp will have to work harder - and as @Rich says, will probably start to get hot.
  17. Hi @aj5string @Frank Blank is very wise & might be able to help you. I'm not familiar with this amp, so hesitate to give dodgy advice I think your amp has a CYCLE button to select through the speaker possibilities - it lights up red if it's incompatible. Good luck
  18. Salut Drabjabb Nice basses!
  19. Not quite the same as your set-up, but I use Eden WTDI preamp / DI pedal into a mixer PA amp every week at the open mic night I run (been using this set-up for the last 5-6 months or so). Works fine, sounds good, means I have my own control of EQ & volume to hand, get a 'proper' bass sound, & I don't have the hassle of amp / cab transport. I'd guess that what your suggesting will be fine, but give it a try. Best of luck
  20. Maybe both - I can't find a lot about his gigging.
  21. I thought he was playing with Wilko Johnson a while back. I'm not sure if he's with The Blockheads anymore...
