Good Bassline on this
-
Good thread rob, I enjoy playing a bit of funk, anything by Chic, kool and the gang, earth wind and fire, James Brown, I think people will know, there might be a few suggestions here from a few years back that are of some use to you
-
Yeah they really sound similar don’t they, more than the other brothers I think , stephen has got some great songs and watching many videos he performs great live, Chris Meredith was his bass player who unfortunately died last year , Chris played with all the top reggae artists and others over the years including Gregory isaacs and Dennis Brown etc
-
Having a Gregory isaacs day today revisiting lots of tracks I haven’t listened to in a while and saving the ones to play along to , my list is growing 😁
-
Yeah he does seem a nice guy although I don’t watch many of his videos and he’s also a member here, I’ve seen some of Ian’s videos and he’s a fantastic player
-
Nice, and the best colour scheme too imo
-
Yeah I saw that, it looks really nice, he had a 68 a while back just under that price and it sold fairly quickly , I can’t see it being there long
-
Continuing my journey through Stephen Marley tracks I’m liking this, I’ve been listening to Damien since he started and he sounds great here at 2.40
-
How did you get on, what did you think of it
-
She did an album with sly and Robbie which is worth a listen if you haven’t heard it , very good
-
Ah yeah I just reread that hooky , sorry @dyerseve my measurement earlier is at the 12th not the last fret , apologies for not reading properly
-
At the 12th fret
-
Hi dyerserve, I normally set my neck as straight as I can with the very slightest relief and then lower my saddles to my height, which is as low as I can go without any buzz, I play with a soft touch which I think helps
-
No, I’ve got 12 jazzes and precision’s and I play with a low action, all mine are about 1.5mm with a couple just under 2mm
-
We both went to buy it 5 years ago but I changed my mind and my friend bought it, he still plays it in pubs now and again, it’s a good shop and nice people
-
New kings road guitars have got a nice 62 precision in, my friend bought a very similar 62P from them 5 years ago and he’s still got it https://www.newkingsroadguitars.com/product-page/1962-fender-precision-bass-in-sunburst-finish

Carrying on the Barrington levy, I remember when this came out around 1980, such a good one that doesn’t get played very often , Roots Radics backed a lot if not most of his tracks, Flabba on bass
-
One of my favourite barrington tracks which I haven’t heard for a while, such a great bassline, thanks for that t-h

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
Reggaebass replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
Yes 😁, I was tempted by a black mustang a while back but I’ve got so many basses I need to move some on first, I’d squeeze a shell pink one in though 😁 -
