I only use flats and I found the chromes quite high tension compared with the labella’s I normally play, also very bright sounding, good if your looking for that sound but they wasn’t for me
Will has got a nice 73 jazz in at the moment, I’m holding out for a maple and black block one but it’s quite tempting , few dings in the neck though https://bassbros.co.uk/product/1973-fender-jazz-bass-4/
It definitely works in some situations, I’ve been a joiner for 35 years and it’s used regularly in the joinery shop
Not something I would do it would probably tear the neck pocket wood
Not sure if you’ve had a look but there’s some serious funk in the ,Soul funk and groove thread, might take you a while there’s about 49 pages, but probably worth skimming it and save the ones you like
Good thread rob, I enjoy playing a bit of funk, anything by Chic, kool and the gang, earth wind and fire, James Brown, I think people will know, there might be a few suggestions here from a few years back that are of some use to you
Yeah they really sound similar don’t they, more than the other brothers I think , stephen has got some great songs and watching many videos he performs great live, Chris Meredith was his bass player who unfortunately died last year , Chris played with all the top reggae artists and others over the years including Gregory isaacs and Dennis Brown etc
Having a Gregory isaacs day today revisiting lots of tracks I haven’t listened to in a while and saving the ones to play along to , my list is growing 😁
Yeah he does seem a nice guy although I don’t watch many of his videos and he’s also a member here, I’ve seen some of Ian’s videos and he’s a fantastic player
Hi dyerserve, I normally set my neck as straight as I can with the very slightest relief and then lower my saddles to my height, which is as low as I can go without any buzz, I play with a soft touch which I think helps
