I’ve done untold experiments with various foam mutes, (hence why there’s no washing up sponges left in the house 😁) we had another thread on it, but I haven’t done one under the bridge cover, can’t you leave the foam longer so you can pull it out easy , or if that mutes too much cut the bit sticking out up at an angle so it’s not touching the strings, kinda like this
I’ve got D’addario tapes on 2 jazzes, probably around 7 years old now but still sound great and they’re really smooth now, I did buy the Fender black nylon tapewounds but they didn’t feel right, they were a bit tacky
I made one for my old shell pink jazz that I put together as a project, I think they work quite well, I play with a fairly light touch so it wasn’t a huge difference but if for some reason you wanted to reduce digging in it would work
I find the custom shop 1960 pickups very good and the noiseless ones in my jazz elite are really good, I’m not too sure on the electronics of those though as it’s an active jazz, but it has passive mode, would they work?
Hi SH, I’ve got some original isolated drum tracks saved from Carlton Barrett which I use for playing over , don’t know if they are of any assistance to you, you might be able to break them down
..
Yeah definitely a different feel compared to metal, check out some of Karigan reggae drummer video’s, he’s really good, you might have to browse through as he’s got lots of different ones like, one drop, roots , rockers etc
