  1. Sleeping Single in a double bed (Barbara Mandrell)
  2. Looks good, I’ll pass details to our worship leader. At the moment we are using a drum box rather than the full kits at either venue, so the clear drum screens have been ‘recycled’ into a band and preacher screen.
  3. Update... Checked on Hermes site this morning, it says they are still wailing for it from the seller - emailed the seller, who still says dispatched on 21st, and that the Hermes’ site is wrong (or the inference they’ve lost it?). Fortunately it’s not urgent, so I can wait a few more days.
  4. I’m waiting for an eBay item (supposedly) dispatched on the 21st via Hermes 48hr courier. Hopefully arriving tomorrow?
  5. Played in a Ceilidh band a few times, where other members were husband, wife, son and nephew, all with the same surname, Lee, so I was introduced as an ‘honorary Lee’. It wasn’t until later I thought to mention that my mother’s maiden name was. Lee.
  6. Again, not quite a sibling, but I was in bands with my cousin - the nearest I have to a brother - in our teens in the 60s, busked with him in the 1970s, and now, in our 70s, record remotely (we live about 100 miles apart) with him purely for our own amusement.
  7. I heard the old Frankie Laine song ‘Answer me’ covered by a female singer many years ago, who I found out was a young Barbara Dickson. It was an advance play of a single from her forthcoming LP (shows how long ago it was!). I couldn’t wait to buy the album, and she’s been one of my favourite all time female singers ever since, even though I’m not too keen on her trad folk stuff, but that’s a genre thing. Similarly Green Onions (Booker T etc) introduced me to Stax, still another favourite.
  8. Seeing/hearing this young lady - Alana Alberg - almost made me want to give up bass playing.....
  9. Re ^^^^ A lover of headless Warwicks might go Googley eyed over it, just to make a silly point.... Is that good enough?
  10. Do you mean ‘a bit like Harleys’? Joking, joking, only joking, honest!
  11. Many years ago I overheard a comment about me, it went ‘I can’t understand it, he’s got a catalogue bass playing through a keyboard amp, but it sounds great’. I no longer have the Hondo P-bass, but the OHM Tramp amp still comes out occasionally at tehearsals
  12. Well fielded with that extra comment. Indeed, time for a boycott. So, back to your original thread subject, was it something to do with Warwickshire?
  13. It’s allrounder good thread, I could crease myself laughing, must take a guard against it.
  14. I’ll bail you out by suggesting this bit of the thread should be hit for six, in other words it’s over.
  15. I rather like it, but I don’t have 2000 reasons to like it enough to buy it......
  16. We are back to playing live again, smaller band, and the drummer using a drum box rather than the kit, although in a few weeks we are moving back to our bigger venue, so we may use an electronic kit. Last week’s band was keys, bass and drum, plus one vocalist. But a question - the service is live streamed on YouTube, but unless the wick is turned up very high, the bass doesn’t come through, even though it’s fine in the venue through the stage setup. (I have listened through the TV sound box, and my bass amp). Has anyone else found this? I finally got the sound man to dip into the YouTube stream while it was going out, which persuaded him that the bass players weren’t just wanting their few minutes of fame!
  17. There’s a ‘Fender Precision Bass PJ - Black - Made in Japan MIJ’ currently on eBay, but it doesn’t have the usual Fender ‘elephant ears’ machine heads/tuners. The current bid is £11.50, so I’m wondering if something is amiss..... The eBay item number is 254755345954, hope this link works https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1989-Fender-Precision-Bass-PJ-Black-Made-In-Japan-MIJ/254755345954?hash=item3b509a1622:g:zt4AAOSwFWRfkDzw

Thanks, both. I was hoping for something like that, but tbh daren’t touch the screw heads!
  19. Would that explain the access panel on the back?

    Setting up

Could I have some help/advice please with my Epiphone EB3? I tend to use the neck pickup, with the tone knob wound back, then straight to the amp. I've always found the second and third strings to be fine (it’s strung with black tape-wounds), but the first string sounds a tad ‘thin’, and the E booms a bit. I’ve lived with this, but recently I’ve been doing some remote recording, using Audacity, and the inconsistency between the strings is so pronounced that I’m almost restricted to only using the two middle strings! My old Marlin Sidewinder fares much better: there is still some disparity between the strings, but it’s nothing like on the EB3. I’m a novice when it comes to setting up instruments, so apart from “use the Marlin” is there anything I can do to improve it, or can anyone recommend a guitar technician in the Aylesbury/Hemel/Watford area who could set it up properly? Many thanks in advance Malcolm
