I definitely remember it, but not particularly fondly! It was very high on 'cringe factor' IIRC.. Having said that, Henry Thomas used to live down the road from me in north London and I used to go to him for lessons for a while in the mid 90's and he was absolutely brilliant - both as a teacher and as a person - and I learnt a lot from him in a very short space of time! Though he's a very talented bass player, he started out learning Cello apparently...

Only problem is, the range of choices you have available to you which could be a bit mind-boggling.. If I had that budget, I'd be looking at something like Sandberg, ACG or Shuker custom builds or a s/h Lakland or Sadowsky perhaps. Might be worth going to Bass Direct or somewhere like it which will have a wide range of hi-end basses for you to try? Good luck with it!

Cracking gig last night at Mullens in Eastbourne.. Arrived at 8pm and the place was empty but by the time we started at 9.30pm, it was packed! Lots of familiar faces too which is always a good sign.. At midnight the Landlord asked us to do an extra half-hour for a few extra sheckles and we duly obliged. They also supplied us with some beverages at the end which was very generous of them, as a lot of places we play will only offer us free non-alcoholic drinks.. Anyway, all in all a great gig except for the fact that I didn't make it home until gone 3am! Back out at The Elms in Worthing tonight for hopefully, more of the same..
