Just bought back my SWR 210 that I sold to Jon last year.. Happily, it's in just the same condition as it was when i sold it to him 6 months ago. Anyway, the whole transaction was very pleasant; lovely cup of tea, got to try out some of Jon's very nice basses and spent far too long (probably) talking about playing styles, technique and just about anything bass-related. Most importantly though, Jon is a really brilliant chap who knows his stuff and is a real pleasure to deal with! Must do it again sometime Jon!!! Nik

Hi Mark I have a Roscoe Beck V and it's a fantastic bass! I've never tried the four-string model but as it has the same pick ups and electronics, I imagine it sounds pretty similar to the five.. Anyway, these bases offer a lot of tonal options because of the pick-up selector, the series/parallel switches and the tone control itself which is very useful.. However, because it's a passive bass, the output is quite low and that can be a problem if you're switching between basses during a gig for example. But the pay-off in terms of tone is worth it! Just watched the Victor Wooten stuff on Bass Player TV and, even though I'm not a fan of his per se, his talk/masterclass was absolutely brilliant! That guy really has a unique approach to life...

I carry a Zoom B2 1.u which has a DI out as my 'back-up'.. Fortunately, I've had no need of it so far but you never know!
