1.
I'm good. I've gone pure jazz these days - reading chord charts and everything! Of course that means I've started wearing turtle-neck jumpers and corduroy jackets. The sonic blue 5-string Spitfire is a joy!!!
Cool! That sounds fab - any photos ??
  2. You're welcome! Am fine thanks - how are you?
  3.
Now come on people somebody buy this. (free bump for a great piece of kit)
+1 And Isaac's a great guy to deal with as well....
  4. Think I've heard and played this one at the 'Walfest in 2006... From memory, it's got a fantastic tone, determined in part by the wenge facings which give it more edge than some of the other facings often used by Wal! But as well as that, it has all the versatility that comes with the Wal electronics.. Good luck with the sale!
  5.
Now THATS how you cut a gear demo
+1 absolutely fantastic.. pre-amp sounds great too...
  6.
+1 Owen just bought a Fender neck and bridge from me and the whole transaction couldn't have been more relaxed and easy! An absolute gent to deal with.. Thanks Owen
Yet another successful transaction with Owen who is as ever, one of Basschat's finest! Thanks again Owen...the Crunch Master is really cool! Nik
  7. Very nice indeed, Rob!! How do they sound in comparison to each other?
  8.
"Whats better? a 2x15 or a single 15?" Neither. The solution is two 1x15s. It's the best of both worlds. Small gigs, take one, bigger gigs, take two. No slipped discs, and they're easier to fit into cars. Whilst I'm sure there is a difference in tone between the same two 15" units housed in one box or housed in two, I doubt that you'd hear it on stage. C
+1 Having that versatility is worth it's weight in gold...
  9. Lovely looking bass - congratulations! Always fancied a Ken Smith 5 myself ... I also had a play on one of CK's Smiths (a 6 er) at a SE Bash a few years back and it was superb; amazing tonal clarity, beautiful neck profile and a real looker! Enjoy
  10.
That is gorgeous. Nicely photographed - vase of flowers is a nice touch too.
+1 Great basses these..still regret the fact that I no longer own one.. From memory, these are quite unique instruments electronically because the tone controls act like a toggle switch and, depending on where they're set, change the pick ups from humbucker to a single-coil setting. Good luck with the sale!
  11.
I see, well if it sounds as good as it looks, you are on to a winner. Lovely bass.
+1
  12.
i forgot to say gill is a gent to deal with tempting this one but i cant justify it at the moment
+1 Gill is great to deal with; very upfront & honest.. Looks after his gear very well and as can be seen in the photos, has very good taste in basses!! Good luck with the sale..
  13. Just bought a pedal from Marc and am very pleased with it! Great communications throughout, really friendly and helpful..and very knowledgable about his gear.. Thanks Marc - you're a star!
  14.
Nik has bought a valve pedal from me and whole experience has been great, we have talked over phone and I can say this guy is a true gentleman. It has been a pleasure to do business with you sir. Marc ( VOXPOP )
Thanks Marc; the feeling's mutual by the way!!
  15. Great basses these - I had 2 of them a few years back! Most amazing thing was finding out that, if you had a question about the bass and contact Tobias, Mike Tobias would email back personally!! They play superbly, are a very comfortable weight IIRC, the necks are very comfortable..and the low B strings sound really good (well my 2 did).. So to be honest, I'm surprised it's not gone already, especially with the upgraded electronics! Good luck with the sale.
  16.
Great basses in great company, doesn't get much better than that. Good to see familiar faces again and meet some new people.
Great quote to sum up what looks like a great day! That filter pedal looks nice too...
  17.
Really surprised this is still here, its a lovely bass, not a mark and sounds fantastic, I guess the post xmas credit card bills have landed!
+1 Me too.. IMO, this is the bargain of the month as far as basses for sale go on Basschat..
Gorgeous looking bass! If only it had the right number strings.
But '5' is a very harmonious number according to the Buddhists, Nig
  19.
Interesting! A new one to me. At a very good price too, looking at what you paid for it. Welcome to BC and good luck with the sale!
+1 That's a very interesting looking bass and though it's unique in a way that may not be to everyone's taste, the amount of detail & info supplied by the seller really helps to 'sell' the bass! Less than £850 for a hand-made, thru-neck 5er with a lot of character seems like very good deal to me... Good luck with the sale

    SOLD

This is a great bass and if i could afford it right now, I'd buy it back in an instant! Super-resonant body, very alive sounding..the pick up & bridge mods make a big difference too and it plays very nicely. Also, it's light, so long gigs are a breeze! Good luck with the sale
  21.
Matthew Ashman Tribute gig in November?????? Aaaaaaghhh!!!!! Didn't know anything about it. 22.
Steve has the funk.
+1 ...very nice playing and a really good sound!!
  23.
Mr Gorman in the house!
Absolutely!! And yes - I do know what you mean Shaun! Leigh was fantastic at the Matthew Ashman Tribute gig in London in November btw... This bass used to be mine many years ago..bought second-hand from a shop in Buckinghamshire for £400 in 1993! I sold it on when I bought a 2 pick-up version later that year.. Tonally, it was a very nice bass and it played as most Wal's do; i.e. perfectly! It used to look like this: Would be interesting to hear it with the different p/ups and controls.. Good luck with the sale!
  24. I've only just seen these as I haven't been on Basschat much lately, having moved house and still having no broadband yet.. Anyway - just to say it looks like it was a really good day..some great photos and some very nice looking gear too!
