1. Just bought a pedal from Marc and am very pleased with it! Great communications throughout, really friendly and helpful..and very knowledgable about his gear.. Thanks Marc - you're a star!
  2.
Nik has bought a valve pedal from me and whole experience has been great, we have talked over phone and I can say this guy is a true gentleman. It has been a pleasure to do business with you sir. Marc ( VOXPOP )
Thanks Marc; the feeling's mutual by the way!!
  3. Great basses these - I had 2 of them a few years back! Most amazing thing was finding out that, if you had a question about the bass and contact Tobias, Mike Tobias would email back personally!! They play superbly, are a very comfortable weight IIRC, the necks are very comfortable..and the low B strings sound really good (well my 2 did).. So to be honest, I'm surprised it's not gone already, especially with the upgraded electronics! Good luck with the sale.
  4.
Great basses in great company, doesn't get much better than that. Good to see familiar faces again and meet some new people.
Great quote to sum up what looks like a great day! That filter pedal looks nice too...
Gorgeous looking bass! If only it had the right number strings.
But '5' is a very harmonious number according to the Buddhists, Nig
  7.
Interesting! A new one to me. At a very good price too, looking at what you paid for it. Welcome to BC and good luck with the sale!
+1 That's a very interesting looking bass and though it's unique in a way that may not be to everyone's taste, the amount of detail & info supplied by the seller really helps to 'sell' the bass! Less than £850 for a hand-made, thru-neck 5er with a lot of character seems like very good deal to me... Good luck with the sale

This is a great bass and if i could afford it right now, I'd buy it back in an instant! Super-resonant body, very alive sounding..the pick up & bridge mods make a big difference too and it plays very nicely. Also, it's light, so long gigs are a breeze! Good luck with the sale

  11.
Mr Gorman in the house!
Absolutely!! And yes - I do know what you mean Shaun! Leigh was fantastic at the Matthew Ashman Tribute gig in London in November btw... This bass used to be mine many years ago..bought second-hand from a shop in Buckinghamshire for £400 in 1993! I sold it on when I bought a 2 pick-up version later that year.. Tonally, it was a very nice bass and it played as most Wal's do; i.e. perfectly! It used to look like this: Would be interesting to hear it with the different p/ups and controls.. Good luck with the sale!
  12. I've only just seen these as I haven't been on Basschat much lately, having moved house and still having no broadband yet.. Anyway - just to say it looks like it was a really good day..some great photos and some very nice looking gear too!
  13.
I had one of these with castors fitted - surprisingly easy to move around for a large(ish) cab & sounded great with my old SM400
+1 Great cabs...Good luck with the sale!
  14. That is a beautiful piece of work!! You must be over the moon..Congratulations
  15.
Like it or not, your tone, what you play and how you play it all come as a package. To ignore one or to say it's insignificant will be to the detriment of the others. If the punters don't cop onto that nice growl you get out of your bass and rig, why would they notice that tasteful fill you did either? If you don't think the little things about our instrument all contribute to the whole, just let the keyboard player do the bass and stay at home
+1 I agree..everything that each musician does in a band, contributes to the end result. So, in my opinion, it is worth worrying about each aspect; your playing, your bass, your rig, fx etc, etc.. But when pursuing our 'ultimate tone', I think we also need to take into consideration the fact that what sounds good in isolation, doesn't always sound good when played in a band setting.. There's been many times when I've been in a recording studio and hear the bass track in isolation and not particularly liked the tone, but when it's then heard in context with all the other instruments, it sounds great for the song! However, if you're a famous player with a 'signature sound' like Jaco, Marcus Miller or Victor Wooten, then your band's overall sound is built around the sound of the bass (for obvious reasons)...so the ground-rules are different. But for most of us, the bass playing that we do week-in, week-out is, there to support the overall sound of the band..So, IMO, we have to pay attention to how our bass sound complements the 'whole'... Anyway, Happy Xmas folks.. Hope it's a good one!

  20.
I had an enjoyable day too - although I was pretty tired by 6pm! Here's the final score on the doors: Entry money - £370 Raffle - £135.35 Tea, coffee & cakes - £29.50 Profit = £534.85 Cost of venue hire - £230 Clear profit to charity = £305 This will be split between The Kambia Appeal (kambia.org.uk) - supporting a hospital in Sierra Leone (Si did his thing on their last web site), and, The Samaritans (samaritans.org) The school principle - Gareth Balch, is very kindly donating the venue hire fee to the school's adopted charity, - The African Childrens Choir - http://africanchildrenschoir.com/ So, every penny raised - £535 - goes to charity! - I'm very pleased!, and well done to all who chipped in and contributed to an enjoyable day in numerous ways! Colin
Hi Folks Hamster sent me a couple of emails regarding the payments to the charities... So the quick update is that, with Gift Aid, The Kambia Appeal received £243.91. And The Samaritans received £105..That makes a total of £348.91 to our nominated charities. Add in the £230 to the school's charity and the total donated to charity from the 4th SE Bass Bash is £578.91. A big thanks again to one and all and also thanks to Hamster for taking care of the monetary side of things.. Nik
  21. I think that Birmingham, or near there, would make sense..and in general I think it's about time another one happened..though some people may feel that having a local one is more than enough. Likewise, I'm up for talking about it with anyone who's interested in helping make it happen.
  22. Okay..what we've got is: South East Bash (4 so far) National Bash, Northampton (1 so far) South Coast mini-bash (1 so far) North East Bash (2 so far) Warwickhunt mini-bashes Nottingham Bash (4 so far) Moffat Bash London Bash Yorkshire Bash (Harrogate) Canvey Island Bash (Essex, South East Coast - first one April 2011) Dorset Bash North West Bash Portsmouth Bash East Anglia Bash (first one 9/01/11) So where would we do a national bash?
