  1. The only strings I've ever snapped had been recently boiled. As @TheGreeksays - they only really sound a bit fresher for a short while and are no substitute for decent new strings.
  2. I got myself a bigger board... Still WIP - I now need another power supply to be able to run them all!
  3. I don't think you can go to drop-D with this system.
  4. Remind me which of their compositions used a very low tuned electric guitar or bass again please? 😉 You appear to making the classic mistake of assuming that your experience applies to everyone. It is a problem for some - you don't have it and that's fine, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist (much like hand pain on jazz necks)
  5. You aren't really tuning that low by modern standards. Plenty of bands are down in the F# below low B range. Floppy strings are an issue here.
  6. I know of a couple of people who swear by them. Looks like it could be good for down tuning.
  7. I'm keeping my 1972-ish Ibanez P-bass, my MIJ A-serial Jazz Bass Special and my Allen Eden Jazz. The rest are replaceable but there's a few that no-one else would want! Tbh I only really need two 5-strings (fretted and fretless) but I'm sentimental about the three above.
  8. I use phosphor bronze - yes, they can be squeaky. I treat it as a useful exercise in good technique. They are by far the loudest option.
  9. I have posted about this before but will repeat. An acoustic bass will not generally keep up with an acoustic guitar unless it has a large body and you play loud. I have a Tenson Jumbo which was easily the loudest instrument in the room in a folk outfit I was part of, but I am quite a heavy hitter. Also has more than held its own around campfires and the like. However... The OP hasn't mentioned anything but home practice, so most of the opinions espoused are pretty much irrelevant. Folks need to chill out a bit and read properly 👍
  10. Most of the coolest rap tunes use recycled funk grooves. This one is unusual for not doing that!
  11. Interesting - my comp of choice is a Darkglass Super Symmetry for exactly the reason you like the LMB-3. I got mine really cheap because the switch is a bit iffy and takes 2-3 goes to switch on.
  12. Devin Townsend in Bristol tonight 🙂
  13. Looks like JohnR already has this? I'm interested if not.
  14. I purchased a tuner from Pete. A flawless transaction, many thanks!
  15. I purchased an OC-2 from Steve. It arrived super fast and well packaged. Buy with confidence 👍
  16. 99% sure I want these, need to check the measurements on my bass when I get home 👍
  17. I just received a pedal from Chris. Paid Friday, received Monday you can't get better than that! Thanks Chris 👍
  18. This has 2 bass lines. Both simple I'll grant you.
  19. Have they been using "These go to twelve" knobs for very long? Or is this another case of U2 being a real life Spinal Tap?
  20. Use nickel wound strings and then the strings wear before the frets
  21. There's quite a few - the MM SUB that @ikay has now is a particular standout. Edit - in fact I'm fairly sure it's his avatar. That says it all really!
