1. Have to say I'm over it plugged the Cyrus into the airport express, dug out my old Celestions and it was the all about the 80s, the Blue Nile, Dave Sylvian etc excellent. I really think it'll get me back into listening to music properly again I'm very pleased. Definitely going to get the Fiio DAC that Dingus recommended and start ripping CDs using Apple Lossless. It's also had the knock on effect of me actually getting the other front room together as opposed to using it to store various things after moving in a few months ago. So everyone is happy. I just need some budget speaker stands (and so it begins)!
2. Picked up one of these, a Cyrus Straight Line, based on the Cyrus 3. In great nick and looks awesome need some cables to try it though. Thanks for the info and advice everyone. 3.
p.s Can I just say how old it makes me feel when you descibe a Cyrus 2 as looking " proper old school". I remember when these amps came out and everyone who saw them marvelled at how modern and futuristic they looked .
Unfortunately I remember that as well and no-one is fooled by my attempt at hip chat! Thanks for your posts they've been really helpful the Cyrus is no longer an option but I've been offered a Marantz PM4400, which looks good it's actually only a few years old but I believe the model was unchanged for years, I think it's in great nick, do you have any opinion on this model? Because the airport express has an optical out an amp with an optical input would be great but they seem thin on the ground, certainly on a budget. The TEAC AH01 looks great but I'd just be buying a new amp and this is just meant to be something for the spare room and I don't want to start getting into hi fi and developing another expensive hobby!
4.
I use one of these and I love it. 5. Potentially looking at a Cyrus 2 proper old school but it looks great.
6. I am potentially going to get a rotel for buttons but there is a Cyrus 2 for a bit more
7. Now obsessively looking at ebay and gumtree.
8. These look cool t amps http://www.templeaudio.net/bantamgold.html
9. Anyone recommend a decent, small, budget hifi amp to use with my airport express. Using some JBL creature powered speakers at the moment, which are fine but I actually have a decent set of speakers up in the loft that I might use. Any suggestions appreciated.
10. Got to say great bass and Ron is a stand up guy, a real pleasure to deal with I'd have this in a minute but I've just bought a new house.
11. Bought a strap off Alex Great guy to deal with!
12.
It arrived from where ?
From the Netherlands, bought it off a Dutch basschatter.
13.
i own one exactl like yours - whats the weight? mine is very heavy unfortunatly, almost 5kg.
I don't know the exact weight but it appears to be lighter than my EB musicman
Thats better than money in the bank IMO/E/V etc etc etc
I'll try that one on the missus!
14. My new bass
15. Hipshot, the seller included the original, I've never used one though seems quite cool.
16. Just bought another bass off Ron, he's a top guy. He mailed me some pics of this bass and it's a cracker.
17. Here are some pics of my new Bass which arrived today! Natural with Maple. Black pg. Serial on neck plate. Encircled "R" on headstock logo.
18. That's a real sickener, good luck getting your gear back.
19. I have a 5 basses and another on the way plus 3 upright basses and an EUB, clearly that's far too much for one guy to play but it's a hobby and I suppose some basses will never really lose their value so it's money in the bank in a way. Ironically when I was playing on a regular basis in the 80s and 90s I only had one bass, the EB Stingray and I could easily get away with having just that now but since I rarely got to the pub, or go out partying, have stopped riding motorbike and am not really into cars or anything else I don't think it's really a bad thing. Horse for courses and all that.
20. Always fancied one of these (I've got a briefcase) I'm a bit over subscribed in the amp department at the moment but maybe someone might be interested, dunno it's a good price in the current market but seems reasonable if it's in good nick. http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/phil-jones-flight-case-bass-amp/103815112
21. I should really read the thread before posting.
