  1. I got one of them aswell but it didn’t fit between my pickups........😜
  2. Just a quick update it’s all done and it’s a nice and snug fit! I had a very quick noodle it feels really strange but I’ll persevere with it...........😀
  3. I’ll try and do one tonight I’ve got a few ideas if everyone else doesn’t mind?
  4. Damn it!!!! That was one I finally knew 🤬
  5. I don’t know if anyone will be interested but I decided to make a bass ramp just to try them out and see if I like them so I thought I’d do a little thread for anyone else thinking of doing it?? Firstly I made a template for the ramp Using the the edge of the pickups I marked out the size of the pickups and the gap between them Then cut the template to size and started marking out for the pickup lugs Next you need to cut out the semi circles for the lugs and check that your template fits nice and snug Next you need to get the radius of you fretboard so you can shape the top of the ramp so it sits nicely up against your strings Now it’s tome to transfer the template on to the material your going to use, because I’ve never used one before I didn’t want to shell out for a nice lump of ebony so I’m using 12mm ply I find it easier to drill the holes first before you cut the ply to the correct width but remember not to drill all the way through as it just needs to be slightly deeper than the height of the pickup lugs and screws Then I cut the ramp out and marked out the radius of the fret board I used a upside belt sander to sand the radius on the top I sanded the edges slightly more than the radius just to give it a smoother edge Then I used a permanent marker to blacken off the two edges that butt up against the pickups Next I cut some Matt Black vinyl to cover it with I cut the vinyl back at a slight angle so it makes it easier to wrap round the edges then trimmed the width Once you’ve wrapped it here’s the finished ramp, all in all I think it took about 15mins to make When I get home from work later I’ll check it fit’s and the post an update........... 😀
  6. Thanks for your advice, I was going to ask about if you use a pick does the ramp get in the way because some songs I do use a pick? i understand that it’s not a magic fix but I’m new (again?) to playing after not picking up a bass for near on 20 years so I thought it’s worth a try and just to see if I get on with it??............😀 i don’t know if anyone will be interested but I’m going to do a little build thread on how I made the ramp
  7. I could say the same mate don’t you read previous post Reggaebass posted the same link 3 hours ago.............😜
  8. I’m thinking about fitting one to my RB corvette I’m think I’m going to make one to try it out??........😀
  9. I did search on here but I must have missed cheers mate.....😳
  10. Jeez I’m rubbish at this game!!!........,,...☹️
  11. I don’t know if this should be in the repair/technical section please move if it’s in the wrong place but I keep seeing bass ramps advertised and I’ve never played a bass with one but I’ve read it helps develop your playing technique??? so my question is do they work and help the way you play or are they just a gimmick???
  12. That is stunning!!........ 🤯
  13. Just notice this is up for £600 on FB in Colchester, Essex
  14. I thought I’d dip my toe in the world of ERB’S so heres my offering It started out as a Washburn XB-600 that I bought of here but after a bit of cosmetic surgery it turned in to this.......... i still haven’t managed to sort out the electrics properly so I haven’t really played it yet!?!...........😳
  15. I can’t narrow it down to just one so here’s goes Steve Harris and Duff Mckagan are the two players that made me pick up the Bass guitar in the first place their sounds are so distinctive and i think it’s mostly down to the string choice!! To try and emulate their sound I’ve even strung my P bass with SH77 and my Jazz has got Swing Bass 66 and they are my favourite choice of strings every others I’ve tried don’t come near to them for tone and quality!! I’m dying to try the Rotosound 88s on my new Telebass (nudge nudge wink wink!!) Even though I’m not really a fan of Jazz you can’t have a list like this without Jaco Pastorius being named his skills and sound is just legendary!!!!
  16. Well that goes without saying!!......😀
  17. You almost managed to hide them 6 string twiddly things but we can still see them!!!!!!..............😁
  18. I think repairing a truss rod issue on a Warwick can be more problematic and a daunting task because if you haven’t got the confidence/skills to do the work yourself replacement necks aren’t readily available for a reasonable price? so you can’t just swap them out like if you had the same issue on a fender type neck?..........🤔
  19. I’ve got an old 2002 (I think) Warwick RB corvette in trans blue and I really like it the neck is really fast and playable and it still has the Warwick trademark growl!! I’ve got a 2014 RB 5 string as well but I haven’t strung it up yet so I can’t comment on that one TBH the price you can pick them up for I don’t think you can go wrong!!
  20. My deepest sympathies to you and your family
  21. If I had the money I’d think about taking a punt on this? Looks to me like maybe a broken truss rod I can’t see that the neck is actually broken? https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F113814545243
  22. I want to do it V/T on each so I can in effect turn either pickup off as such without having a switch......😀
  23. I’ve been thinking a lot about pickup config today and I’ve been watching a few vids on YT comparing tones etc and I’m now thinking that I might go for classic ‘51 style at the neck and MM at the bridge because im going to do stacked pots with individual V/T for each pickup so each pickup would sound great on their own and blending the two would sound great aswell? Incidentally I’m probably going to string this bass with tapewounds.............🤔
  24. I’m still thinking 2 soap bars is the way im probably going to go or maybe a double MM config might be good?..............🤔
  25. Here’s just a quick update with the Jazz neck.............😀
