  1. I've been messing about with faux bindings and I found the best way is with car twin pin striping 4mm on the side and 2mm on top, it even stands up to being oiled over.............. 😀
  2. I was thinking of doing a fake binding I've seen it done where you do 3 coats of Danish oil all over then scrape back to bare wood the depth of the binding then do the same on top then stain it whatever colour you want and supposedly the stain only goes on the bare wood and not the Danish oil?? I spose it might be worth a test piece?? 🤔
  3. I sanded the black stain off the back today and then sanded to top nice and flat, I'm trying to source a 1.5mm binding router bit but they all seem to be £50 and above so I might have to come up with another way of routing the rebate round the top and bottom?? 🤔
  4. I think your on to a winner there mate! That should look nice?, I'll just finish it with Danish Oil, I should be able to sand the stain off the back quite easily............. 😀
  5. I could do natural top with blackened back and sides?? It might look a bit random with just the back black?? Or I could do it natural all over with black binding top and bottom with black pickguard?? 🤔
  6. I thought I'd do a bit of a test stain on the back still probably needs 1 more coat then Danish oil.......... And I made my pickguard out of 3mm ply and stained it to see how it will look as I'm toying with the idea of black pickguard with white binding on the body but I might do the pickguard white I haven't decided yet?........ 😀
  7. Yeah it would be more work but it would be worth it!!
  8. That top is looking stunning it's going to be one gorgeous bass when it's finished!!!..............
  9. I think this is my 7th and 8th build just over a year but sssssshhhhhhhhh!! Don't tell my missus she thinks I've only done 3..........😀
  10. This build is going to be a Pine slab bodied '51 style P bass I'm going to stain the body black with either a White or Mirrored pickguard and Chrome Hardware I'm going to go for a Maple fretboard with perhaps a matching headstock I'm thinking 2 soapbar pickups on stacked pots with independent Tone and Volume controls for each pickup................ 😀
  11. After careful deliberation I've decided I'm going to do both builds a 51 P bass and a Stingray so I'll start a new thread for the P bass............. 😀
  12. I'm GASing over a Jag at the minute but if I do make one it will be VM style so I'm watching this with interest!! Love the Walnut neck!!....... 😀
  13. Here's the link to Guns and Guitars who did that Telecaster......... 😀
  14. You are a better man than me to have the patience to go to all that detail to get everything authentically correct It looks great!! You should be very proud of your accomplishment!! 😀
  15. Sorry I hope that my comment didn't come across as me being rude because I would give my right nut scratch that both nuts to own a bass like that but I just love Black limba.......... 😀
  16. That top looks awesome but I prefer the back......... 😀
  17. Red!! That looks awesome!! 😁
  18. I had a LP copy that I sprayed the same colour scheme as this but I did a red go faster stripe up the neck hoping it would make me play quicker!! 😁
  19. I did use her Christian name first but I think it sounds a bit more refined calling it a Craddock instead There's a lot worse names I could call it some might even make a sailor blush!! 😁
  20. I did it to a strat I've got quite a few years ago I cleaned the paint off the frets tho and the paint hasn't worn at all..... 😀
  21. I love the profanity filter it comes up with awesome changes!!
  22. Yes I've heard a queef (I'm too common to use the word queef so it's a Craddock Fart to me!!) but there wasnt a Shewee involved surely if there was a FF whilst using a Shewee it would sound a bit like a Fog horn or playing a milk bottle??
