    Thanks, I suspected that replacing the p/u's would be the answer - but didn't want to do that & then have to replace the circuitry also! Very much appreciated - thanks again! If you find it too bright currently, try some flats (Status Hotwires are my favourite flats, good strong sound and not as expensive as all the other flats people recommend).[/quote]

    Hi Guys, I have a really nice 1999 - made in Indonesia - Squier PJ Special Precision Bass - which plays like a dream & apart from it being a tad heavy for an old git like me - I'm very happy with it. However, the sound is a bit naff & when I turn the tone control up it sounds like Sparky's Magic Piano!! Does anyone have any ideas how to make it sound as good as it plays? Is it just a case of replacing the pick-ups? or do I need to replace the pots & wiring etc?? All donations of wisdom gratefully received - ta ?? All the best, Tim
