Weekend bump - titty - bump!
Hi Si, According to my bass buddy (who also had the earlier cabs before these) says that in his honest opinion there is no compromise on sound with the new Neo cabs & in fact, because they are front ported - he feels that they sound even better, giving a deeper bass response when needed! I also had the original Mini's & although I've never actually owned the Neo ones, I've heard my friend use both types and IMHO I would have to agree with him - a much improved bottom end, with no loss of the punchiness & clarity these cabs are famous for. cheers for the bump, Tim quote name='Sibob' date='Jan 14 2010, 02:46 PM' post='712617'] I have the older versions of these two cabs and I love them! I'd be really interested to see how they compare tonally to these actually! Whether there's any payoff for the lack of weight! Have a bump Si
-
I played a couple of gigs in Scotland on Friday and Saturday. I'm now using a Markbass LMK head with my Ashdown 4 x 8" and 1 x 15" cabs. Simple setup - Roscoe SKB5 through Boss TU2 into amp. Premium cables. Batteries fine in bass. I was getting a high-pitched noise through the rig. I tried going straight into the amp and bypassing the tuner, but it was still there. It's not present when there's nothing plugged in, and it goes when the bass is turned down. The ground lift switch made no difference. I'm going to take the amp and bass into our shop and try them through different cabs. Any suggestions in the meantime?
Hi Pete, I've had a thought - the amp is probably 'complaining' because you are playing too many notes & Fagen 'Mu major' patterns through it ! I never had a problem playing 'dum - de - dum - de - dum' through it, apart from it falling asleep through boredom ! Only joking me owd fruit - hope you've got it sorted, as I'm just about to trade your 12 month guarantee for an F1 All the best, dodger x x
Still up for grabs bump
Somebody buy these - quick! I had the same cabs - the only difference being they had Ashdown badges on them etc & they were excellent! £250 for the pair? - I got £250 just for the 4 x 8 & £225 for the 1 x 15 - so 'do the math' - as they say!! + personally, I prefer the look of these babies! Bumbity - bump for a great pair of cabs at a bargain price - come on guys, if they were a bit closer - I'd have been there LAST week!! My Aggies are great, but I'm sure they are not 'twice' as good - costing 'twice' the price! Good luck with the sale - at this price you shouldn't need it ! -

Hi Matt, Have a free Monday bumpity bumpity for a beautiful bass! Plus just to let you know there is 1964 Precision/Jazz Bridge on that t'ebay at the moment - £220! sounds expensive to me, but what do I know? - but may help to make it more acceptable to the 'purist' brigade?? Good luck with sale - my numbers didn't come up this week, so it's back to feeling down the back of the furniture again! It's a gorgeous bass & if I find a bit more spare dosh, in the words of Arnie - 'I'll be back'! All the best, Tim. ps - 'green with envy'!!
Unfortunately the sale of this bass fell through. So, here it is again folks. It truly is a stunning bass and does need a new home, so please don't let it is there for another 22 years. Hopefully speak to you soon and take care. Cheers, Matt
Thanks for the 'bump' Bob, did I mention 'in passing' the war - oops sorry! I meant to say that this bass has the lowest, playable action I've ever seen on 'any' bass - Headed, headless, graphite or wooden?? sorry for mentioning - I mean 'starting' a war - 'I thought I got away with it' Let's face it - no 'one' type, or 'make' of bass is 'superior' over ALL others - (I think that's how 'the war' started)! - bugger - mentioned it again - sorry! At the end of the (very long) day it's all down to personal choice & preference - we'd all be in real trouble if there was only 'one' make or type of 'best bass' in the world - there wouldn't be enough to go around for all us greedy 'fat-wires' - (That was 'fat- wire' - NOT - 'fat - wa' - bugger - that was close)! thanks to everyone for their interest, hoping to hang on to this 'work of art' forever - if not a bit longer my main reason for liking (not 'prefering' - phew close again)! - headless basses is they 'seem' to stay in tune forever, which is a godsend to a 'cloth-eared old bint' like me! Hari Krishna, cheers, Tim
Tuesday bump for a cracking bass BB
Not played one of the 'new ones' - but just prefer a 'through the body neck' to actually 'go through' the body. To my 'very' old eyes, in the pictures of the 'new ones' - it seems as though it doesn't 'go all the way through' - if I'm wrong -please excuse my ignorance!
