1.
Can I be the first to ask if its good for Metal?
No - aluminium isn't heavy enough
 2.
Do I dare ask how much it weighs?
They are quoting 9lbs on both the P Bass style and the archtop. The bodies are hollow, with bracing inside. The neck is Maple with a Rosewood FB - and an aluminium nut!
 3. Anyone had any experience of one of these? Made by Normandy of Oregon USA (so I guess they would say Aluminum) They do a plain chrome one too - and I haven't seen it, yet, but they have an Aluminium Flying Vee Bass in the works....... And this:
 4. I'd factor in the cost of a better bridge. No individual string height adjustment on the Epi Bass Bridge
 5. Is the Chair-Loc stuff liquid or viscous? Do you think it would work on necks with the truss rod access is at the bottom of the neck, rather than the headstock end? It's a long way for the goo to travel......
 6.
Did not notice straight away when I got the Bass and only after I swapped out to flats.
Some Flats will rattle when first strung onto an instrument. Play it for a month or so, and once bedded in, the rattles will go. Sounds stupid, I know, but James Jamerson played the same set of Flats for over 15 years, simply because he didn't wanna go through the bedding in process.
 7.
How does the P pickup sound so close to the bridge on your Rascal bitsa? I've got an old Hondo which has a P pickup in the Stingray position, it sounds huge!
I like a Jamerson muted growl, and that's what I get from it. I use GHS flats (which have a growl from the get-go), and a light foam mute on the bridge. I play fairly close to the neck, and often use a 5mm soft rubber pick, so the slightly shorter distance between the bridge and the neck doesn't seem to affect things too much. The relative slackness of the strings on the shorter scale probably affects the sound more. Once I attach the chrome ashtray cover and hand rest, the foam (as well as the holes and the earth wire) will be out of sight, and the handrest will keep my hand in the right place!
 8.
Here's mine - 1988 MIJ Fender jazz body and a 2004 US neck. Most of the hardware and electronics are from my parts bin, but it plays brilliantly! Lowest action of any bass I've had before.
I love that blue....
 9.
hi everyone I'm a long time reader, first time poster - but I have just completed my first bitsa 'Fender' Precision Bass. Mighty Mite neck from ebay - never mounted but gloss (probably poly) finish and a decal already applied - the plan was a '62 clone but I couldn't find a cheap neck with 7.25" profile so I had to settle for 9". Body is from guitarbuild website - made in uk - 3 piece Alder; I've finished it in a tru oil. Original Fender parts for most of the hardware: vintage bridge, vintage tuning machines, original '62 pickup, string tree, strap buttons, neck plate Cheap knobs and scratchplate (celluloid top) Strung with Rotosound 77s I'm pretty pleased with it...
Good job!
 10. Here's my nearly finished Fender Mixup, along with one of her "higher toned" sisters. A short scale wide nut Rascal neck, on a Mexican P Bass body. The old bridge holes are visible right now, but will be covered by a Fender Ashtray cover soon. I've called her "Red, White and Blue".........
 11.
Just waiting for Bass Direct to get them in stock, will report back Si
Had a disappointing episode with Bass Direct recently. Needed some Hipshot Tuners. Their site said they were in stock (every other supplier in the UK was out of stock), so I ordered and paid for them. Their new, updated invoicing system send me an invoice. Only problem was their system stops at that point. A week later, they were reduced to looking through piles of Post Office receipts (you know, those with the impossible to read tiny text...) to see if they had sent them. Turned out, they hadn't sent them, because they never had 'em in the first place. They apologised, bless them, but said they couldn't be expected to keep their website up-to-date ALL of the time....Really? Finished up getting some from Spain! BTW, and on more on topic - just got a Schaller 3D Bridge to replace an old Fender. A Great Bridge, but let down by faulty grub screws that jam up in their threads. Luckily, the old Fender bridge I was replacing had much better quality grub screws, and they fitted perfectly.
 12.
and offer broader benefits.
Por que??
 13.
Just put a sponge under the strings.
+1 Good enough for JJ from Detroit. Good enough for me
 14. I know a bassist who wings AC/DC. Now that is a skill......
 15. That is a great looking bass. Congrats on the buy!
 16. His telephone number and address are both on his web site.
 17. Here's the weird thing. I have a 1964 Epiphone Casino (bought in 66) - made in Kalamazoo when Epi's where exactly the same as Gibsons - or maybe even better (more plys on the top and bottom of the body). But playing it, folks will think I've got a Chinese guitar!!!! Oh no!!! Should I print out a leaflet, telling them the reality of the situation, or suffer the slings and arrows?? Oh, the shame..................
 18. Have you ever had a car, and stuck "go-faster" tape down the side? Ever stuck an M series badge on a bog standard beemer? Or a R series badge on a really slow Audi? Same thing. Does NO HARM whatsoever. The only folks you upset are the folks who paid the stupid price for the real thing. The rest of the world doesn't give a flying F***
 19. Nitro is available in aerosols, and is not difficult to do. By far the most time is spent on masking up properly, and sanding and polishing between coats. Do that properly, working up to 2000 grit, and using auto trade rubbing compound, will get you a great finish. Have a look at this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-opzJcI3vWQ
 20. Just bought a new Fender Rosewood Neck from the USofA. No problems with importing it
 21.
Will this intonate properly with a short scale neck on a standard scale body? Surely the bridge will have to move?
As I said in the quoted post - yes, the bridge has to be moved
 22.
Banging a Fender logo on a bass to invite confidence is a lie. It's deception. Whether you sell it or not. It's the intention of making people think it's a Fender. It's brand snobbery enablism.
It is indeed Brand snobbery - but then, it is that same brand snobbery that enables the likes of Fender and Gibson to charge eye-watering prices for their products A guitar is not THAT complicated a product, and Fender was even designed to be as cheap as possible to make - and yet stupid pricing policies positively thrive in this business. And it is nothing new. Back in 1966, when I was a young sprog, I convinced my dear old Grandma, bless her, to "loan" me the 180 quid it cost then to buy a brand new Fender Telecaster - the guitar of my dreams, and just within me and granny's budget. Imagine my disappointment when I got to the shop and the price had DOUBLED. In that very week, UK distribution had moved to a new company (Arbiter), and the very first thing they did was double the prices!! And it has gone on ever since. The only folks who allow that to happen are the folks who pay the prices, and the manufacturers laugh all the way to the bank. Incidentally, there are rumours around that the glut of second hand Gibsons has stalled the market, and the very top models (8 grand plus) might well, for the first time in years, come DOWN in price. I'll believe it when I see it
 23. Yup - catch up TV for me. Not a bad prog, despite the heavy handed attempt to introduce politics into it. Motown music was offhandedly dismissed as (IIRC) "sugar coated" - despite the fact that George Clinton started his career with them, and the FUNK brothers, including my hero, James Jamerson, did much to further so called "black rhythms", which eventually led to Funk. They also got the details wrong regarding Clinton's early band, the Parliaments. They were NOT a 50's group, and they were NOT unknown - they were a 60's soul group who had hits on both sides of the Atlantic - their single "Don't Be Sore At Me" was pretty big in the UK Clubs when released in 1967.It even got bootlegged when supplies of the single ran out! Kool & the Gang, happily got an early mention, but NO mention of their first single, Kool and the Gang/Kool and the Gang, played all over in 1969, much earlier than the program made out that Funk was beginning to emerge. And No mention of Charles Wright and the 103rd Street Rhythm Band's "Express Yourself" (1970) - one of THE early funk tracks. Yes, they talked a HUGE amount about James Brown - quite rightly - but saying the change of style just "happened" in James's head - when, in fact, it occurred because almost all of his successful 60's band walked out due to not getting paid! Not as good a story, I guess... Ah well. As they say, that's showbiz
 24.
I also rolled off the last 7 frets.
+1. If you want low action, filing down the very bottom frets is the simplest way to achieve it
