  1. I love the sound of those SD Foderas.
  2. Or make it completely bland. I did a demo using my old Ric 4003s and in the rough mix it had that lovely Ric growl. When it came to the final master, it was reduced to an anodyne, beige sound - I was not happy, but didn’t want to ask for a remix as it wasn’t about me and would’ve probably cost more. I thought it was a P bass at the get go, but didn’t stick my head above the parapet (easy to say now 😉).
  3. With those pickups, you have a Roger meets Vinny; that truly is an NYC bass. What's the bridge on that BTW? Nice groove too.
  4. The one that I played a while back in GuitarGuitar was very impressive too (I played it just after demoing a secondhand Metro which was annoying wonderful - GAS and all that). I'd be interested to try a Japanese Express next a new Sino/German Express.
  5. Both P basses to my ears and like some of those above, I prefer bass number 1.
  6. Do you mean the original Japanese ones or the new China via Germany ones? I'm not making a point here, just looking for clarification.
  7. I should say so. Some of your FS items have had me drooling but I've been strong (the Sad 5 string was a close call though).
  8. You want a Rob Allen Mouse. There is one for sale in the community:
  9. The price for a Masterbuilt is a bit stiff, 😱.
  10. I've always been a fretless fan after I was turned onto the sound by Pino with Paul Young back in the '80s. I pulled the frets out of my 2nd bass to be able to sound like that, so I've been playing fretless almost since the beginning of my affair with the low end beast. With restraint where necessary, fretless will fit in just about anywhere, you can even slap them (although not overly recommended due to potential 'board damage and the sound isn't exactly right - if memory serves a manufacturer came out with a fretless with 'slap plates' back in the day; it didn't catch on). I've only ever seen Pete Stroud, who gave a session at the at the SE Bash last year, use fretless basses live and a lot of the time you can't tell. It's not all about mwah and slides, but they are there if you want/need them. As we all know, your average punter isn't too bass savvy.
  11. I’m often in a similar mood, but I won’t be giving anything away except in exchange for money.
  12. Didn’t EBS do a phantom power feature from their heads to their pedals? I wonder if many folks actually used it?
  13. Weddings! I’ve witnessed more fights at these ‘joyous occasions’ than pubs.
  14. I’d put up with a little hassle right now if I could gig or even rehearse.
  15. It could be a relaxing of lockdown present to myself. If it comes with a free jar to put my detached testes in, I’ll order it! 😖
  16. Pre owned Metro. I played it a couple of months back before you know what, I was hoping to be underwhelmed, but that was not to be. I really don’t need it, I have 3 perfectly lovely Maruszczyks (2 of them custom) and an SBP2 pedal for that ‘sprinkle of fairy dust’, but....
  17. I keep looking at this one, I really don’t need it, especially as I don’t play fivers these days. However, GAS is a cruel mistress.
  18. Robert keeping it all very formal with a collar and tie, whilst Toyah’s top is struggling to keep her chest contained. Nice garden they have there.
  19. I watched the Shadows at 60 program last night and thought it was good. It seemed to be well put together, rather than the usual Beeb cobbling together of old, unconnected footage.
  20. Guy’s so slick that he can swap basses mid solo without missing a note 😁.
  21. I took delivery of a Focusrite Scarlett Solo the other day (inspired by my initial recording attempts with the SC but realising its limitations) so here is that comparison you were after. All samples are dry followed with the SBP2 added, basses are: MM type fretless fingerstyle; J type fingerstyle; J type with pick; P type fingerstyle; P type with pick. As ever, apologies for the playing. EDIT: SBP controls are set: bass and vol at 12 o’clock, treble at 1 o’clock.
