  1. To quote the Happy Mondays, you're twisting my melon, man. 😲
  2. Whereas the '60s is worshipped and revered, when there was even more, let's be nice and say 'sub par', output. To be clear, I was brought up in the '60s, so it's not as if I don't have a connection to it. For me the '70s and '80s were decades when not only were there significant changes, but the level of musicianship seemed to increase too. It was born out of the '60s certainly, but one swallow (or two) does not make a summer, to coin a phrase. As ever, YMMV.
  3. Same for Danish Oil. Just wash the rags out in soapy water and leave outside to dry.
  4. I played in a band that was on the bill for a day long extravaganza at the Crystal Palace Bowl. The stage was huge. I did the required running across the stage for my ‘Woodstock Moment’ and unplugged my guitar. Rookie error, but I reconnected in time to play the signature riff of the song.
  5. I, on the other hand, think mint green. Understated class, the body is already bling enough without the pearloid..
  6. I’d also expect the monitor/power amp to have a level control, but I could be wrong.
  7. I use my Cub for just home playing these days, which is a bit of a luxury as the Flightcase would be fine, probably better, but the Cub was my first piece of PJB kit and, up until recently, I’ve had no reason to move it on. However, since acquiring a Yamaha Sessioncake, the Cub’s time may be up.
  8. Quite a bit. It’s really doing the ‘heavy lifting‘. I have tried just using the Flightcase, but I’d probably need to run it flat out in a full band situation and it still might be enough. I have, however, used it on its own for jazz trio gigs, where it was more than adequate. Adding the PB300 makes it effortless for rock/pop gigs and also adds a bit more low end. It also lifts the Flightcase up off the floor for better monitoring from the upfiring speakers. I have also used the PB300 with just a Cub or a Bass Buddy as the ‘brain’ and it was just fine.
  9. This one of our set lists from back before the World went to hell in a viral handcart: Brass In Pocket When Tomorrow Comes Something About You Rosanna Walking On The Moon Kayleigh Don’t Get Me Wrong Hungry Like The Wolf Papa Don’t Preach Wherever I Lay My Hat Every Little Thing SDI Magic Walk Like An Egyptian Back On The Chain Gang China Girl Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Hanging On The Telephone Video Killed The Radio Star In The Air Tonight The Way It Is Died In Your Arms Africa Alone Holiday Call Me We Built This City Footloose Kids In America Atomic Sweet Dreams Sledgehammer Gold Don’t Stop Believing Purple Rain
  10. I received a card and text, which is all I really want (a visit just isn’t feasible at the moment). She’s looking pretty spry for 38! I’m guessing she was about 18 months here.
  11. My MXR M87 arrived today. I’ve put it through it’s paces with a few basses, with both headphones and small amp (I’m at home and there are limits). It’s interesting to see the difference in output of two basses that, to my ears, sounded the same level (the VU is super useful). The M87 sorted out the levels of all three, even bringing a particularly hot, active piezo under control without killing the natural sound and needing to use the active pad on the amp. It’s certainly less squashy than the limiter circuit on the amp (although it can be if you want). I’m impressed and this will now be on all the time. Voted.
  12. My PJB rig (Flightcase + 6x5 powered cab) punches to the back of a fair sized establishment at only half way up (I realise these things are not necessarily linear) and I’ve never felt I need more.
  13. No replies to my post above? This is BC, right? Anyway, too late now. I've taken delivery of an MXR M87 and I don't see any reason that this won't be permanently on. Gotta love an NPD.
  14. The 80s was a great decade IMO. Yeah, there was some dross, but there was also crap in to 60s and 70s and the 90s is where, for the most part, music went to die (obviously IMO and YMMV). My 80s band do 4 of those in our set and you'll no doubt cover the rest as you go through the decade.
  15. Damn, these threads give me Jabba Custom Build GAS! Having played one doesn't make it any less GAS inducing either, in fact it amplifies it!
  16. if somewhat belatedly. No more lurking for you .
  17. The Sessioncake is a marvellous low cost solution, since I’ve had mine, I’m playing/practising much more at home.
  18. You say delusional (nice man that you are), I say chancers (free lead, big whoop). Having dealt with Andertons in the past, this is disappointing behaviour and makes me glad I didn’t order my recent pedal purchase from them (their last one and might have had ‘in store’ use).
  19. That‘s appalling (looks like it’s had an argument with a studded leather jacket!) and needs to be £150 off. That’s what I got for just a small ding on my old Ric from GG. This is the kind of behaviour that gets retailers a bad reputation.

    Advice please

I’ve like the look of these and the Tech21 Bassfly that is its inspiration. I look forward to reading your review.
