A friend of mine used to run a website dedicated to Murph, but he stopped doing it as he received some nasty comments and, IIRC, it was from someone he knew.
Probably for the best. The last thing you want is a router unexpectedly kicking back and damaging your project. Even one of our most esteemed BC builders doesn’t like using his router for this reason and is a hog it out and chisel man. The only ‘problem’ with a bit and brace (lovely looking thing though) is keeping it straight, but for such a shallow job, you should be fine, especially as you’re comfortable with this tool.
With regard to what to listen to, I agree totally with @Beedster. When I started playing, I suddenly realised that my record collection had effectively doubled in size, as I was listening to it differently.
My JMJ sounds remarkably similar to my old ‘63 P. However, not an option for you, but Seymour Duncan have a custom shop Mustang pickup (which is what I reckon is in the JMJ) and Novak and Nordstrand do replacements of that ilk for classic sized ‘Stang pickups.
Here’s a couple of side by videos of both Player and Performer vs P bass
You know when you know you've written something that's not right, but are sure it's also nothing, that was one of those moments. Trouble is, I was thinking about The Big and Theory, which Mandel was in.
We ought to do a BC best of based on 3 or 5 votes per person (I don’t know why I’ve gone for odd numbers). At least that would have some validity for us as a community. Not that it would change anyone’s mind of course, but at least we could point the finger at ourselves when the, “ Who makes these up?” question is asked.
Can open, worms everywhere.
I notice that the picture of Carol Kaye had her playing a guitar, well done Rolling Stone, good to see you've got your eye on the ball
Dunno, went back to find a link and it had disappeared from my feed. I can't imagine it would have been a cordial meeting, if a meeting was had.
EDIT: Found it, but no more info given other than it was returned https://www.facebook.com/redsnapperofficialpage
