  1. A case of posting without reading. In my defence, I was distracted by the picture. Ooh, look! A bee.
  2. An additional one for me would be my very first bass, a Yamaha BB300 in poop brown. A heavy weight beast, that would rule it out for my current requirements, but it’d be nice just for nostalgia’s sake.
  3. I have TGS just after acquiring anything new. The times that I’ve said, “Right, that’s me done,” makes me think that part of my brain likes a joke, but the rest of my cerebellum isn’t in on it.
  4. I had a very similar experience yesterday, where I played all of my basses. What was extremely satisfying was playing my EUB through my recently acquired Behringer graphic EQ pedal, with a smiley face curve, resembling the Dr Feelgood logo. No more messing about with my amp’s, mainly flat, EQ and then having to reset it; now I’m good to go. Worry? No, not at all, GAS, coupled with curiosity, will return soon enough. BTW I’ve just noticed the somewhat forward position of the J pickup on your ‘Berg, that makes a lot of sense to me. Was that off the peg or custom?
  5. A closer inspection seems to indicate that that is the case here.
  6. My RB4 was deep red but not quite CAR.
  7. Roscoe Beck 4 and an old Stingray5. I’d get on better with the RB’s neck now and I probably only sold the SR5 because the guy I bought it from asked if I’d consider selling it back to him (I wasn’t really playing 5s at the time). Mostly, I’ve been moving forward with little looking back to previously owned basses.
  8. I recognise those pickguards from the FB Mustang group. I didn’t realise that you manufactured them yourself (or didn’t read properly). The 3rd and 4th ones are my particular favourites.
  9. Because GAS is a cruel mistress and clouds judgement. Been there, feel your pain.
  10. I knew it was tucked away somewhere, I just couldn’t find it this time. I think I found it under ‘new’ last time. Why it isn’t also listed under ‘offset’ is a mystery.
  11. Doesn’t look like it on the Thomann site, the actual Harley Benton site, however, has no trace of them as far as I can see just now. That being said, they were never under the right/logical heading on that site and it might be undergoing a restructuring. If it does prove to be that they’ve discontinued them (although, a cease and desist order notwithstanding, why would they?), I’ll consider myself fortunate in having got in under the wire.
  12. Used the new bass in anger rehearsal last night. I can report that it was very much a success. The 60:40 neck:bridge or full on neck settings were perfect for everything in our set. Despite being the heaviest of all my basses (just), because the weight is predominantly in the body, balance on the strap was absolutely fine and comfortable. This has actually made my SS 'Ray somewhat surplus to requirement now and that may go in part ex for a P Bass .
  13. Most, if not all, of the Hipshot products have schematics on the website, so that you can make an informed purchase. However, if in doubt, drop them a line, I have always found them to be very helpful in selecting the right product.

  16. I had some of those, which I sewed onto a fabric strap via the eyehole provided. They work really well, not overly elegant, but effective.
  17. Having used Dunlops (stick out too far), Schallers (rattle too much and come apart), I’ve gone back to Grolsch washers or Basschat’s own (smaller hole and harder rubber make them harder to remove, so not ideal for wigs, etc). Loxx look interesting, but if it ain’t broke, etc. The D’Addario screw and clip system seems sensible, except that without the strap section attached, they look tatty to me. EDIT: Oh yeah, 🧟‍♂️ thread, nice one. Threads don’t die, they’re just resting.
  18. I’ve been P bassless for quite some time and now have an itch that needs scratching. I thought that having Mustangs was the way, but it turns out that they are a gateway drug. Played a Player series P at GG the other day, it was very good indeed 😬.
  19. Breaking Up Is Hard To Do - Neil Sedaka
  20. I like it too. I imagine the one off nature, with no selling to the masses , got them a pass.
  21. I’m not sure that they do commission sales, they’ll have traded or bought that I reckon.
  22. I’m pretty sure that is my old one, the knot and the copper tape shielding are the giveaways. A really good bass, that is nice and light and sits beautifully in the mix. Doesn’t seem to have picked up too many dings since it left my keeping. Nice upgrades you’ve had done there. Someone is going to get a nice bass. GLWTS.
  23. Even worse now that they’re employee owned (or something like that), it’ll be the evil eye from their colleagues for ages.
