  1. I really, irrationally, dislike red basses, especially with white pickguards. I just...can't...even...
  2. Rush were pretty open about overdubs on their live albums. Certainly All The World's A Stage and Exit...Stage Left had overdubs. Exit... also stitched songs together from different performances and actually made the crowd noise quieter. I'm not really familiar with later live albums from them.
  3. Yeah, I've given that some thought too. I'm not mad keen on doing anything to it, even such a minor mod, if I'm going to move it on. Also, I saw a video on the Youtubes where someone had done that and it sounded kinda meh.
  4. TBH I think I'm likely to put the Stingray up for sale. It's a fantastic bass and the ergonomics are just about perfect for me but I simply prefer passive. Selling it to someone who will appreciate it in its entirety is probably the better move.
  5. That really is tantalising. I've been trying to think of a good way to make my Stingray passive so that I need fewer batteries in my life. I think this might be a good way.
  6. The new album is fantastic and that's a great track
  7. I like presets as a kind of demo ware. They show what the equipment can do but I'd rarely if ever user them. Toggle switch stuff like GK's contour, Ampeg's Ultra Hi/Lo I tend not to use.
  8. Yep, really impressed with mine, too. So convenient that I find it impossible come up with excuses to not practice. I'm glad you're enjoying it.
  9. Music For An Infinite Universe by 65daysofstatic. An epic, emotional album that I never wait very long to listen to again.
  10. I'm using the Mono Vertigo for my basses, including a jazz 5 string. I feel pretty confident that it's as safe as it's going to be in a gig bag
  11. Here’s a list of batch conversion applications. Maybe something here will suit you. https://listoffreeware.com/software-batch-convert-flac-to-mp3-windows/
  12. I think the Crimson stuff look to be more the kind of thing I am after, thanks Chienmortbb. Lot's of great advice here, especially the not looking into the heatgun. Disaster averted
  13. Awesome. Thanks for these tips, Paul. Time to look into a heat gun! Thanks again 👍
  14. I've got this Jazz body from a 2019 Fender American Pro that I'd like to take down to the bare wood then give the body an oil finish. It's a sunburst so I'm pretty confident that the wood will be presentable (though I'm not that fussed). Would Nitromors be suitable for stripping the current finish? If not, what would you suggest? Once it has been stripped, I'd like to give it an oil finish (when I played guitar I fell in love with the Washburn N4 and, in large part, that was down to the finish of the body). What oil would be good for this? I'm sure that successive coats will cause a certain amount of colouration over time, but I'm not looking to stain it, if you get my meaning. Any gotchas I should look out for as I do this?
  15. I just did this to one of mine yesterday. I started off with 400 grit to get near the wood then 800 grit to finish it off. After that, I rubbed it down with the white scotch-brite and rubbed in some teak oil. It feels fantastic.
  16. I like the SBL site and I find his mannerisms toned-down and so more palatable there but yeah his YouTube stuff is pure clickbait. Even though I’m a paying customer, I have unsubscribed from all SBL emails - it’s a quick and painless process.
