  1. Yep - playing my white Ric through that, I used to glide forwards even when I was standing still.
  2. I was fit as f*** back then! With that and my bass in a flight case, every day was a workout.
  3. Sure - no doubting it's a compromise; I don't think anybody is saying otherwise. (I used to have two Marshall 4x12s to go with that Burman too!)
  4. Well, I first tried one at the Olympia show in March and I really liked it and pretty much knew I'd get one if the opportunity arose. I then had a go on TheGreek's at the bass bash and I liked it. I then saw one when I was killing time in Birminham before a gig last month, but they said it was £299 and it was just on closing time. ebay had a 20% off offer earlier in the week, which took it to under £200, so I bought it. I don't know if that's flavour of the month or what. I've got a TE graphic amp and 1x15 & 2x10 cabs, so it kindof fits. For me the Elf seems to be what it says on the tin.
  5. Well, I think it's a product which was waiting to be done. I used to have a Burman valve amp in the 70s; it was a beast and weighed lawd knows now much. I've now got a (possibly) more powerful one which will fit in my pocket. It's never going to be the backine at Glastonbury, but then again I never am either. For me it's a step towards making my living room tidier...
  6. I'm not a fan of the Rockinbetters, but I've never played a Renegade (I did try another Retrovibe and it had a definite Chinese feel to it). Given that choice, I'd probably hold out for a vntage Japanese one...
  7. Yep - that's its market!
  8. Audi used "Here comes the sun" in an advert.
  9. Well, I just set the dials to 12 o'clock and it sounded good! But yes, its context is a handy portable hassle-free amp; I don't think it's going to replace a concert pro's backline anytime soon.
  10. My first bass was a Columbus Jazz bass; it wasn't bad but wasn't great. It was a copy rather than a fake, as it didn't have a Fender logo on it.
  11. Out of most (sendible) people's budgets at £800; the only way I'd pay that is if I had megabucks to spend and it was the last one to fit into my entire custome basement collection of every faker that was ever made.
  12. Yo gots to be am talkin' street smokin' dood.
  13. I know - I'm a lost case; it's kind of like re-living the first time you heard something. (I hasten to add that I don't watch these daily!)
  14. Well, you've got me into it now - I've been watching more. This one has totally bamboozled him! I find it quite addictive!
  15. So - who's got a Trace Elliot Elf? I played one at the Olympia show and then TheGreek's at the Bass Bash. So, yesterday there was an ebay 20% offer and I just couldn't resist. It arrived today - sounds good.
  16. I quite like the "weaboo nation" bloke - he's funny and swears like a trooper; he describes himself as "Just a talentless black guy who enjoys music, anime and video games.". I watched a different one today, with two blokes, but they kept stopping the music to talk, which was a bit annoying, so I'll probably skip them.
