[sup]Yes Marathon basses are nice and light, I've owned quite a few the only problem is the stereo circuitry means the pickups have a bit of a weak sound when played with a splitter to get a mono signal - unless the bass has been modded. Its not a Mark1 version as this had a small oblongish separate scratchplate around the pickup and the bodies were heavier (ex Hayman stock). I'd bid if it weren't the dreaded 'pickup only' as its miles from me! Lovely example. It looks just like one I bought last year....but it isn't as that had typical Shergold finish checking.[/sup]
Yeah, find my recently acquired Marathon to be a nice weight, with one of the nicest necks I ever played. Regarding the parallel wired pickup with stereo circuitry - I just rewired mine in series with mono ouput. Replaced the 100k pots & two plastic jack sockets for decent 250k CTS pots & a switchcraft socket. Was an easy, reversible mod - worth doing to these. This one hasn't the usual lacquer cracking, wonder if it's a refinish? Still a lovely looking example, wouldn't mind another one
Thank you, gentlemen. Any guess at a sensible price for it? I'd be guessing at £150 max, if it's nice to play.
Personally would not pay any more than £80 for it. These & fretless versions do also crop up on Ebay quite regularly, & generally don't sell for much. Still, an alright bass though.

It's a Korean made Satellite, made for FCN, probably early 80's. Bridge & pickup not original.

Jumpin Jack Flash - anyone got any tips on how to sound good?
nick replied to Truckstop's topic in Theory and Technique
You could try doing the Johnny Winter version. I do it in a few pubrock bands I play with.... Sounds better than the original IMHO & definitely more fun to play on bass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbPucX4Oj28 -
Oooh, I would love to get these into my jazzes and BB's! Could you please PM me payment directions including shipment to Sweden for 5 caps please? (have paypal, would prefer that as gift transfer over involving the banks due to their charges - even though that would also be ok).
PM'd you BB3000S. Thanks Nick

Don't know much about him, but I will & should do ..... I love Alphonso Johnson's playing here with Bobby & the Midnites. Quite inspiring for me.

I use my Boss CE-2 clone with mix control, depth, vibrato & bass mods. Its nice & warm, not cold, or sterile and is very bass friendly. Lot of tonal variety too. It's the same pedal circuit as CMAT Mods 'Waterbox', so I'd definitely recommend trying one of those if you can find one.
