  1. I signed up to Scott Devine's course, it seemed great value for money and a great course however I just didn't have the time to get the most out of it.
  2. I like some of the really early stuff, like the eponymous Yes LP from 1969 and 'The Yes Album' . I actually went to see them in Dublin once when Chris Squire was still alive. I met a mate at the gig who came straight there after work. He was so hungry he left for a fish and chips at the start of a song, when he returned the same song was playing 😂. I just think they seem a bit humorless and take themselves way too seriously (except Rick Wakeman). At least other prog bands like Jethro Tull and Rush can poke fun at themselves.
  3. That happened my Two10, the glue doesn't work BTW, in fairness they put their hands up and know this is an issue (I assume they've sorted this problem now). I ended up getting that heavy duty Gorilla tape and just taped around the corners and now its fine. Another quality control issue I had was one of the speakers was farting a bit when I received it, again they immediately dispatched a replacement driver and it was easy to replace. Its a great cab otherwise. I use its with my Ashdown 30W little bastard, Ashdown 550W Spyder and TE Elf and it works great with all of them, in particular the Little Bastard, its only 30W but the cab is so sensitive it can get pretty loud, loud enough for small gigs. I was in the market for a 1 * 10 cab recently and I agonized over getting a One10. in the end I couldn't justify the cost of it and ended up getting the TE 1*10 cab which is "fine" but I have an inkling that the One10 would have been a better buy.
  4. I’m not participating in 2023 because this thread has the opposite effect on me ☹️
  5. I put a set of Lollar P bass 90s into my Sandberg California vs (Pbass) and I couldn’t be happier. They transformed the bass. The bass has way more attack and growl.
  6. I'm hearing a lot of good things about the use of JFET transistors in solid state guitar amps, particularly the Orange super crush 100. Apparently they have very similar tonal characteristics to valves (without all the drawbacks). Just wondering if these are used in bass amps at all ? would they work etc. ?
  7. I recently sold a CTM-100, while it was a great sounding amp, it was a bit unwieldly and I usually ended up just bringing my Ashdown Spyder 500 to gigs and rehearsal. It had enough "tubey goodness" for me and I had the advantage of a decent SS back end offering 550W of power. I still have a little bastard which Im happy to have as a small home amp, because valve amps do sound great. I actually bought a Trace Elliott Elf rig with the proceeds, which that may seem like an anathema to folks here, I'm getting a lot more use out of it thank the CTM100.
  8. I see photos of me playing about 4 years ago and everything I'm playing had since been replaced. The old gear I had was actually all good gear.
  9. I think there’s a ctm100 reboot in the pipeline so hold onto to your (considerable) cash
  10. I imagine TE making the design so compact required some compromises from such a small fan
  11. Did anyone else notice the elf fan “ramp up” when you dig in a little bit 🤔
  12. I was able to get a fairly decent loud response from the 110 with my little bastard , excuse the awkward looking overhang . It would still do a small acoustic type gig
  13. I've seen KT150s used by a boutique amp builder in the states. Apparently you can per 70W per valve. I read somewhere in the past that they're difficult to get and can be a tad unreliable . (only Tung-sol make them as far as I know). Would this be a viable option at all for use in a small amp https://upscaleaudio.com/products/tung-sol-kt-150
  14. I nearly got one of those , saw one in Belgium for €400 on reverb.
  15. I was expecting a significant cut in volume going up to a higher impedance cabinet, I needn't have worried. Even through an 8ohm cab this rig has loads in the tank.
  16. The 110 came in the post from Thomann today . I can’t wait to play a gig with this rig . I initially thought this would only be suitable for small acoustic types of gigs but the power is unreal from this thing.
  17. I've low tension flats on my precision player and I love them , never had an issue with them. played a few long gigs with no issues.
  18. I was in a position where I was looking for a small but relatively powerful rig for jazz / acoustic sessions. I had bought a TE elf there a few months ago and was really happy with it. In my head I had a One10 to partner this with as I know how good these cabs can sound as I have a Two10...but I just couldn't justify the cost of one, especially for just occasional use. £450 for the amp and another £50 for a cover for it. Another £50 if you wanted the silver cloth. I'm in Ireland so we're talking €650 potentially (or thereabouts). in the end I just ordered the 1*10 TE cab from Thomann for €295 delivered and all. I know the one10 is probably going to be a “superior” cab but c'mon....
  19. Yea band members that have unreasonable expectations regarding pay for a cover band in a pub on a Friday night, I’m totally against doing gigs for free on principle but in reality it’s just drinking/petrol money is all than your can expect
  20. But it’s for charridy mate and if you don’t do it you’re a miserable c*$t
  21. Being offered BS fantasy gigs far away that never materialise
  22. Sale Regret : A Carlsbro 50top head I used with bass. Gorgeous sounding amp , best dirty channel for bass id ever heard
  23. I normally use a barefaced two10, I must keep an eye out for that brand though
