    Scale length from the brass nut to the bridge is coming in at 36" I did not realise this! Currently has some old elixirs on and kept it's tuning in Eb standard At that length I'm sure it'll handle some hardcore down tuning Truss moves and is bang on Just going back through the build notes there are carbon supports in the neck also. Bathroom scales it's coming in at bang on 5kg As I said, it's a monster, it's an absolute beautiful monster

    It is time I start preparing my mind, body and wallet for a mortgage with that in mind, I regretfully place this absolute unit up for sale. Commissioned this around 10 years ago and took delivery on my 30th birthday June 2017. I've barely touched it in the last few years and its not been out on a gig since way before covid. Thunderbird styling with jazz pickup. Body is a piece of figured white ash with a trans black stain Maple Neck with Wenge fingerboard 41.5mm nut width EMG J pickups with VVT Black Schaller Bridge Black Clover tuning pegs. 34 inch scale. Heavy duty flight case Its solid, it is not light weight. Plays and sounds like a hot jazz bass on sunset strip.     Yeah, nah, wouldn't want to associate anyone with any vile views. Bad enough at work, even the nice old lady who runs the canteen has started sharing the "usual" shut the borders etc memes. Certainly don't want that crap in my personal / social life. I do see members of bands / bands called out on such things too, so I've seen it happen, a drummer from some band was pictured at a far right rally, which was picked up on and shared about. Needless to say, I don't think he'll get much gig work now

    @Beedster I haven't opened mine up, I've only got a shot of the cavity from when it was being spraying, but looking at the size and layout, I'm going to assume it takes some space!

    In all seriousness though, its versatile as F#ck pardon my midlands accent roll back on the fat MM for huge farting bridge pickup goodness, solo the P for well, that P sound, blend them together for a full fat bigger than Jazz, Jazz bass sound. one good thing about the John east stuff is the active blend so i dont think you get that standard scoopyness, I dunno, I'm not that technical. If I had a fender style bass, deffo get the J-Retro, anything else the uni stuff, think it's more of less the same, just form factor etc. Just enquiring with Chris at Alpha now about my next build! wallet forgive me!

    Hi Mate My alpha is not too far from your set up Although its a Nordy Bigman + NP4A (reverse P) with a uni pre as opposed to the J-retro. works a treat, off the top of my head there are gain trims for each pup, as well as giving it a good go over on pup heights etc, Does it work? hell yes!
