2. We wrote our own christmas song last year, might dig it up again for this year too.
3. Ah Music Makers, bought my first bass from there. Nice shop, not a huge range of basses though.
4. How about the Goth epiphone model. I really like it, plus it's got a mahogany body like the 'real' thunderbird, plus pretty similar pups I believe. They're only around £170 now as well . I paid nearly £100 more for mine a few years ago. Quite the bargin.
5. Bump for gig this sunday at The Musical Restaurant. Dinner and a band, good stuff.
6. Have you asked the venue about possible places to park a van or something. Surely they'd be used to accomodating tour buses and such things.
7.
Ummm, yes. Two bands, and clubnight 'til 3am. Not bad value at all really.
Ah, that makes more sense I suppose.

9.
Welcome Leeroy! Mighty fine first question! My vote goes for playing bass right handed. The dosh you'll save down the years on not having to use left handed basses, amp heads, cabinets, cases, stands, strings etc,. will make the learning curve well worth it ..., It will also give you a great party trick
Left handed strings?
10. Ah cheers, very useful. Has anyone had any experience with the RGT examinations?
11.
You can also do grade exams in theory - very worthwhile in my opinion.
Yeah I saw that, thought of giving that a go too.
12.
Of course some people will say The Ox never had any grades, or Jaco...
True, but they're something I want to do. Also that was my first board of call, I can't see anything on their website syllabus list.
13. That's because you seem to have bought an amp.
14. So I fancy trying to get some official grades, in the hope that it'll put me on the path of getting the theory down. However, looking at the site they don't seem to have grades for Bass guitar, even though I've heard of people taking them. So do they exist? Do they just make you take the ones for guitar?
15. World is Static "Featuring the beautiful vocals of Heather Frances 'World Is Static' is a band that fits somewhere between alt, rock, metal & gothic. Hailing from County Durham in the north east of England & formed in 2005 by singer/songwriter Heather Frances & guitarist/songwriter Simon Chester. The duo were later joined by Sam Tuckett on bass & Chris Myers on drums. Taking their name from a song on the Static Prevails album by Jimmy Eat World the band play down tuned melodic tunes. World Is Static were the first band to be played on the test transmission of UK based radio station Ne1fm. The band were also played on the first ever AlterNation show on the same radio station and described as "County Durham's finest gothic rockers". The song Dying Inside was released by Hollywood-based record label 272 Records on the compilation album 'The Funeral Volume 1' (2007). Borders have picked up our first 2 CD's & are available now from the Gateshead branch. Highlights of the WiS musical journey so far include playing Newcastle University, Trillians, various UK festivals & supporting signed bands like Fables Last Stand (End Of The Trail Records) & Crud (Full Effect Records)." We've got CDs and stuff available, £2 I think. If anyone's interested PM. We're hoping to record in a proper studio come December too.
16. Do you do strange german star wars songs?
17.
For a while I had the melody side of my Stick tuned to the Crafty tuning (all fifths except for the top two strings which were a minor third apart) á la Trey Gunn. Removed any last association the instrument had to a guitar or bass in my mind and led to some very angular melodies!
Sounds...interesting. I might try it on my guitar, see how I take to it. Just for kicks.
18.
You're getting tendonitis at 21?! Something doesn't seem right. I've been playing 20 years and never had a problem wiith it.
Well I never got it diagnosed but I was getting symptoms of it. Seems to have almost gone now though, had a couple of months break from gigs and heavy playing. I'm guessing it was due to poor strap length causing me to have bad technique, so I've been trying to find that right height that's comfortable, Which I believe I have. I suppose it could have been some other joint related problem. I've had problems with my knees in the past so maybe I'm susceptible or something.
19. lol Believe it or not the gloves play a practical purpose while gigging, they stop sweat getting on the neck and the body and the slight tightness seems to help prevent tendonitis like flare ups I sometimes get. Of course having no fingers means I can actually play.
