1. **Now sold mods please close this thread** Status Series 1 5 String (modded with Aguilar OBP-3) Im really not sure I want to do this as this has been my "go-to" bass for 10 years now but I have several 5 string basses and now my Streamer 5 string is fully operational again, I cant justify having so many. A truly wonderful instrument that is a joy to play and incredibly versatile, especially now it has an Aguilar OBP3 3 band EQ fitted, which has a switchable mid boost and an active passive switch as well. The balance is perfect, the neck is very thin and fast thanks to the carbon reinforcing and the bass is lightweight at just under 4kg. String spacing 17.5mm The bass has been used and shows general signs of wear that you would expect with a bass that is 20+ years old but it is in generally good condition. I might have gone overboard with the photos but I always try and show as much detail as possible so people know exactly what they are getting. Also, in some light and at some angles you cant see the marks so I have tried to show them so they dont come as a surprise. Generally they are just superficial and with a good rub down and arefinish this bass would look a million $. 2. Hmm that did nothing for me. He clearly has chops but what he was playing seemed totally at odds with the music he was playing over.
 3. Haha haha 8s this the same guy that was accusing us of trolling when we were telling him he was dreaming at £10K? If so touche! Though I think we could have the last laugh by someone buying it anonymously and then not paying. I would hate to see the seller fees!!!! 😂
 4. DiMarzio DP123 Model J Bass Pickup Set Black, used but in full working order and generally good cosmetic condition. some marks(one significant) to the plastic covers(on the side so not visible once installed) and the wires have been extended. Please note that these pickups are not the same length. The neck pup is shorter than the bridge pup. £70.00 posted within mainland UK

 7. Warwick Straplocks(black): one complete set(strap parts and body mounts) in black. £15.00, now only £10 posted in mainland UK. bump and edit to confirm these are one complete set and there are not two sets of mounts as previously advertised
 8. Thanks for the comment Chaos. I can post this bass for anyone interested who is not local. I have access to professional packaging materials and i have plenty of experience packaging items for national and international shipping.
 9. Some additional research shows that the scratchplate is correct for Sandberg and that the logo is only a sticker so could be legitimate. The lack of serial no. On the back of the headstock worried me as well but apparently that is normal for custom shop builds. Considering Sandberg isn't that well known a brand I think it unlikely to be a fake.
 10. I did a Google image search and no other Sandberg California has the jack on the front. Pups, bridges, machine heads, string retainers all available as spares from Sandburg. Something about this seems very fishy so I am leaving alone.
 11. I was just about to purchase this but now I am unsure...
 12.
I made my own and I'm no mechanic.

Found a bit of nice light pine wood the right thickness from an old posh wine box
Measured the size I needed to go on bass.
Sawed wood to size
Bought sandpaper sheet and stick it to INSIDE of a dustbin to roughly approximate the fingerboard /strings curvature
Rubbed block of wood against sandpaper until one surface convexly curved
Attacked all part of ramp with finer bits of sandpaper
Checked it fitted
Finish with paint or oil to taste
Attach with doublesided Sellotape
Or get someone to make one, don't know who
would be much harder to work clear plastic as the OP requested. I am guessing that the OP wants a completely transparent ramp which i think would be really difficult to produce as a DIY effort without it ending up looking like a dogs dinner. Maybe check on ebay if there are people who can produce a custom mould for you as I believe to get a pro finish it would need to be injection moulded. I could be completely wrong though, it's happened before!
 13.
Misinterpreted...I was looking to swap the pickup around (a la the Mark Hoppus signature bass). The 'bass side' E&A stays where it is, the 'treble side' D&G goes closer the to the neck, where in theory the different position gives the strings different tonal characteristics. I had a EH Black Finger compressor; a bit Emporer's New Clothes to me. May investigate a Boss BC-1X.
If you see Grangur's post below this one I am quoting, that was the rationale I was using when I made my suggestion. I really think this is your best bet.
 14.
Tried everything, pretty much! Different amp/cab combinations, different pre-stages, balanced set strings (and so on). It's not my main bass, but I love to use it. I was considering getting a new scratchplate so I could reverse the pickups, but that would involve getting the chisels out. It just hit me that I could try a VVT set up and retrofit a stackknob pot to have some independency over each side of the strings. I had an old Fender P and that suffered as well...D&G were too quiet/lost.
couldnt you just reverse the pickup by extending the wires between the two halves(and probably the output wires as well) so no chisels would have to be involved?
 15.
Yes, there is a guy near me who can do that and he is very reasonably priced. Let me find his details for you
Here he is: http://jdaveyguitars.com/feedback/

 17. I'm in Sedgley but work in Tipton. If that is close for you drop me a PM and i will sort you out.
 18. That one didn't sell by the look of it. Well not on eBay at least. Probably a deal was done outside of ebay.
 19. Just so people have all the info there are 7 different Sire models Scott is giving away. Most expensive is a 5 string beauty with a retail of 799.
 20.
Yamaha makes great basses. I've always wondered why they don't have a larger market share. Blue
I would hazard a guess that Yamaha probably lead the world in sales of bass guitars
 21. Best to double check on the red wires as the red on my Streamer pre is connected to the positive of the 9V battery. Where is the battery currently connected to? Re. The ground wire from the bridge, that can be connected to almost any other ground point in the circuit but yes, it does need to connected.
 22. Can't believe no one has mentioned the Yamaha TRBJP or TRBJP2!?!? Truly stunning instruments in every respect!
