1. Heh, I happen to run one of each with my 500 watt Eden. I started out with the EXT, but after a bit of scare when some dude borrowed my rig, I decided to get a pair of MNT's. However, they do come at a bit of a price, so I decided for now just to use the MNT and add the EXT if I need full power. They don't look exactly the same, but financially it's a good compromise. It's an awesomely powerful setup. Sound-wise there is no difference in any practical sense (I believe the MNT has a sensitivity of 99 dB vs the EXT's 100 dB - Marc Vanderkley himself even assured me combining them is perfectly fine!). The MNT, however, can take twice as much of a pummeling on its own, so that's a relief when I bring just the one and it needs to be pushed. It's also noticeably heavier, but still easy enough to lift. Hope that helps!
2. Cheers, that's good advice. I have some gear to measure them myself, but when I last checked these tubes, they were running 21.5ma or thereabouts, so for the time being I guess they should be OK. I'm going to swap them out for a new set before too long anyway, so I'll think about taking it to somebody more knowledgeable then.
3. Luckily I kept a few old 6v6 tubes in a drawer. Switched 'em around, and fortunately the problem went away. Whew, I guess you can never be too prepared with tube amps. I'll be bringing those spares with me from now on. Here's hoping it was circumstances and not some or other drifting component elsewhere in the amp.
4. From what I've been told, I have a cheap Matsumoku copy. I have very little verifiable information on it, except that it was bought somewhere in the late '70s. It's my only bass, and although it is not very easy to play, it too has that mellow yet clearly defined burpy snap going on. Sounds absolutely terrific. Funny thing is, the body is made of plywood. The neck, though, seems to be a universal constant.
5. Thanks, that's a great tip! I'll give that a try asap.
6. Sorry, if this is in the wrong section, but I was hoping some of you might shed some light on my predicament. This weekend I was playing an outdoor gig with my reissue Deluxe Reverb, when about halfway of the third song of the first set my sound started cutting out. When I checked round back I noticed one of the power tubes looked like it was just about ready to go pop. I turned it off immediately. I had changed some of the 12ax7's a couple days before, so I had some spares, which I then put back in, and I was able to finish the night on the other channel (V1). Lovely gig, too. Unfortunately it then turned out somebody had keyed all of the band's cars, which were parked around back. One of those nights, huh. After some testing today, I found that my amp really doesn't sound healthy. The guitar sound is fine, but after a couple of minutes it starts to make a sort of gurgling sound. Anybody got any ideas what might cause these symptoms, and - more importantly - how to make it go away? I fear it might not be the tubes themselves... Thanks for looking!

Ooh, congrats. I've been pining for a P for quite some time now. Like you I've been keeping an eye out for something to build upon, but I could easily imagine being tempted by one of these!
8. If you want fun, get an octave divider. If you want something to make life easier, get a stage tuner. Otherwise, I'm a bare-bones kind of player, though. I might spring for a dedicated compressor at some point, but I doubt I really need one.
9. I half regret selling my flashback - but the signal cut when audio tapping spoilt it for me so I guess I'd get annoyed with it before long if I bought another. I happen to really appreciate TC's switches though, so there you go. Also - and I admit I have no knowledge of the Bonafide and only a faint grasp of buffers in general - haven't boss tuners been equipped with buffers since time immemorial? (Marketing opportunity notwithstanding)
10. I have the keeley super mod, which features what I suppose is a scaled down version of the chorusy bit. I use it just about exclusively for guitar, but it's very effective for approaching widely mixed sounds in a live (i.e. mono, single amp) setting. It's also surprisingly useful as a short but wide chorus. Matter of fact, I've found I often prefer it over the pedal's regular chorus. Quality sounds in those Keeley boxes!
11. If I read it correctly, I guess what he's saying is that in order to take advantage of the dynamic benefits of a tube power amp, you need to run it right in the butter zone of that particular circuit. Compared to the deeply enjoyable dynamic quirks of a hard driven power amp stage, the effect of tubes in a preamp played cleanly is relatively subtle. For what it's worth, I've always found power tube compression and sag indispensable for sweetening the middy honk of electric guitars, but for bass I find it much less essential. YMMV, etc.
12. Does it sound OK unplugged? If so, I'd try what Beer of the Bass suggested. Sounds like there's some bad connections or wrong parts in there...
13. Thought i'd chip in myself! Nothing extraordinarily taxing technically, but to me this just says it all: http://youtu.be/ZR8lvnFx1Gc
14. Hi all, Lately I've been trying to really challenge my feel and timing sensibilities. My current favourite gig is with a blues band, and for me these things are where it's at. The drummer and I already run a pretty tight ship as it is, but the intricacies of perfecting a romping blues set are such an immense source of pleasure, I feel like pushing the envelope a bit. So, any suggestions for some inspiring records? You know, the kind that makes everybody want to get another round in.
15. I once had to borrow a 1001rb with a GK neo 412 from a friend. Turned out to be a great amp. Also, it was hilariously overpowered, which took some time to live down. 😂
16.
Have you tried speaking to Marshall themselves? - they're usually pretty good. They may have some or know how to get hold of them?
Well, it didn't seem to pan out, but last week after communication with Eden ended, I suddenly received an email from Marshall, saying they were willing to send me a pair of rack mounts free of charge. And so they have. Class A service for a long since discontinued product. What a lucky break. So thank you Marshall for the kind gesture and thank you EBS_freak for putting the idea in my head.
17. Ooh, working on something at the moment. Very interested in what this might turn up.
18. That's cool, this is turning out to be very helpful. Interestingly, I received an email from Marshall this afternoon, sort of out of the blue... looks like they are going to send me a pair of rack mounts!
19. Haha, now there's an idea! Unfortunately it didn't come in a box. The padded case is an interesting idea. Might be alright to tide me over while I look for a more permanent solution. Cheers guys, thanks for the suggestions!
20. Hi all, In the past two weeks I've been trying to hunt down a case and a pair of rack mounts for my recently acquired Eden WT550, however, it's starting to look like an impossible task. I've been in contact with all the likely companies, but short of happening upon a pair of rack ears in some forgotten drawer, I don't think I'll be able to source them. I also just received word that the case I ordered and paid almost two weeks ago has been put on back order, and will not arrive before the end of April. Even if it would arrive then, that is just too late, so I'm probably going to cancel the order. Anyway, I was kind of hoping some BC'ers might have some unusual solutions, as I'm now looking at the relatively expensive option of having a custom case made. TL;DR Anybody know how best to carry around my Eden WT550? Cheers! Dan
21. Seeing as we're off amps and cabs for the moment, I just realised I have owned my Boss TU-2 for at least 12 years. It took a mighty beating over the years, while everything surrounding it got switched around and replaced. Never gave it much thought, but I'm stumped if that isn't what you're looking for in a tuner...
22. Well, it took a reminder, but this morning I received a reply from Eden, who had contacted their dealer. Sadly, they can't help me either, but at the end of the day it was very nice of all of them to try to help out.
23.
I have a question - what's it like when you double up and add another? I've got an Eden WTX500 (280W @ 8ohm / 500W @ 4ohm) - do you get a right old thick thump out of it when you hook the 2nd cab in? I do already love the sound, the clarity is what made me choose the 112MNT.
I was in the same exact boat as you. I took a punt on a second one, and although it sounded really pleasant, it still didn't really cut it. (Loud band though!) Recently I was lucky enough to be able to grab an old WT550, and now it's just such a banging setup. The difference in punch is night and day. Congrats OP, I commend your impeccable taste.
24. Welp, looks like I'm out of luck. Full Compass won't bother shipping overseas and despite an initial, good natured but kind of weird reply from Eden all communication's dried up. Thanks for the suggestions, though. Back to the ol' drawing board. Hopefully I'll be able to track down some measurements so I might have some made.
25. I checked out the bridge of my friend's 4 string V7, and it seemed to have an appropriate amount of clearance for a reassuring break angle. I only had a minute with it, though, so I didn't have an opportunity to check the intonation. However, unless it was way, way strikingly off, I really don't think it should be any cause for concern. I prefer the slight practical edge of top-loading bridges, and I've never been convinced of any worthwhile tonal benefits of stringing through, so take that for whatever it's worth.
