  1. This was what I was given. Pretty cool and retro.
  2. Thanks. Didn’t want to lose this early.
  3. Someone having a clear out has given me a Peavey guitar amp this morning. Is that OK?
  4. I’m in. Let’s see how this goes…
  5. It’s how the world should work! Just figuring out what’s going…
  6. I just realised how much time I was wasting buying stuff I didn’t want, need, or use. In the end, I found what I was chasing… This year I did 40 it more gigs plus about the same number of sessions with my old people’s group. It showed me I loved the playing, and massively helped me to focus on what I need and use and the stuff I don’t. The Bryant was something I loved but having it here was a constant reminder of my failings. So selling it to someone who now uses it every day has freed me of that. I’ve now sold everything I don’t use, given away guitars and instruments to friends, and now feel so much happier. Still got one last freebie listing to do at some point tomorrow and then it’s all gone. I’ve probably lost a fair few quid, but feel a million times better. I guess it’s the opposite of scamming people!

  8. This is the same for me. I’ve justified one mega purchase this year with my gig income. With all the gigs already booked it’ll pay itself off. That’s incredibly satisfying to know a £3,000 piece of gear will be earned through music.
  9. Have changed the title. I’ve been scammed before. Not on here, but by a few customers to my business. Its all based on trust and sometimes that goes too far. I’m done with online selling of instruments. It’s just too dangerous. It’s pickup all the way.
  10. It’s a shame but this sort of thing can happen with any mass produced instrument (or object). I had a vintage Telecaster where the truss rod broke (vintage shop value: £5000) I’m sure it’s covered by a warranty and hopefully it’s sorted soon and you’ll get back to playing!
  11. Appreciate your kind words. I’ve updated this now as the other thread has all my books currently for sale. Assume that was why this was resurrected.
  12. Says the owner of one of my many wacky purchases! 2024 is the year of being sensible. Let’s see how long it lasts…
  13. Absolutely incredible. Far beyond me in terms of budget (just bought a 335) and skill, but one day…
  14. I’m a member of the Fretboard and someone there (with a long history of buying and selling) advertised a couple of guitars at competitive prices. Unfortunately, it was a scam and the guys have lost their cash. Seems his account was compromised and the seller an imposter. This isn’t to gloat or point out how silly or reckless they’ve been, rather a warning I guess to do your due diligence and if possible meet and pay in person. Heres hoping there’s a positive outcome there, but it doesn’t look good. https://www.thefretboard.co.uk/discussion/259189/1989-gibson-les-paul-standard-candy-apple-red-sold/p1
  15. And it’s entirely my fault for bringing it up so for that I apologise.
  16. We’ve had this conversation Ad Infiniti’s and it’s always a circular one. Opinions differ and at the end of the day it’s all just wood, plastic and metal bolted together.
  17. 100% this. Cup of coffee and an honest chat.
  18. I’ve found some more books to add to the for sale pile. This is it now as I’m all booked out. Prices don’t include postage. (Estimate £3) Will do discount if you buy them all! Jazz and Rock - binding not great but book fine - £9 70s disco and funk - £7 Jazz rock fusion playalong (with CD) - £7 Improvisers bass method - keeping Sold ones: Jazz licks - this is an exceptional book with jazz phrases in every key - £11 Beatles bass book - £10 Evolving bassist - £13.50
  19. Without wishing to start WW3, the quality of wood, components, and finish of the USA basses is higher. (But I still love Mexican basses!)
  20. Here’s my Ibanez guitar in excellent condition. Recently set up with new strings it’s a great guitar! This isn’t one of the cheap Gio guitars, but a giggable guitar, it’s barely been played and still has the plastic on some of the parts. Missing the switch tip and tremolo arm. These are £250 new. Recently restrung and ready to go. I’ve set up the tremolo so it’s intonated correctly and functions perfectly. £85 for Basschat!
  21. Ok, how about £99 delivered? This is an amazing bass at the price. Ok, it’s not as fashionable as other brands but it’s just about fantastic.
