GK micro bass cabs - MBE115 200 /4 ohm - anyone tried?

I had wondered about one of those in a bundle http://www.thomann.de/gb/gallien_krueger_mb_200_bundle.htm?sid=7d4812a2d247cff51568aee02b52918c. The specs look pretty underwhelming max SPL: 91dB, frequency response: 51Hz - 18KHz but you never know until you try it! -
Sansamp with a built in 1000watt amp? New Tech21 Amp.
http://www.putnamguitars.com/mods.htm You did ask (it's under the rack vt mod drop down options)...
Rats, I was kind of hoping it was a beefy amp plumbed into a floor pedal. Of course, on reflection there would be no space. But it was exciting for a moment. -
So, mark 2 has begun. Here is the top.
There's been a guy in the states making a micro amp from the VT bass pedal and B&O 500 watt icepower module for a few years now - can't remember his name. He resides over on the other site. Mods all the character series pedals with added XLR and speaker defeat option.
Sorry, that is not enough info. -
The binding thing is very lovely.

I've had a fretted 5 and 6. Nice axes they were.
I don't know what sort of budget you are looking at but I would throw the Clover Apeiron Classic 6 into the mix... - I reckon street price circa £1300. (Not necessarily in this finish though!)
Lush that is
hi Owen. what kind of guts are they?
Ummmmm................... TBH I have no idea. I bought them on here because I thought I fancied trying guts. Then they have done nothing but collect dust. I wish I could give you more info, but I just cannot I'm afraid. -

I have no woodworking skills at all. What could possibly go wrong?
Owen replied to Owen's topic in Build Diaries
The BC Massiv have spoken. It shall be Elm. Where do I get a nice piece of Elm? I am new at this. Can you tell? -
I am really not sure where the best place for this kind of question is, but this is the closest to a luthier forum on here. I have an itch to build a bass. As I said, I have very few woodworking skills, but a local luthier is going to suffer me messing about in his workshop and give me guidance. My first question (I know I can ask him, but really I am in such early stages that I am just sniffing around) is how heavy is Elm? I fancy doing something with wood which looks like this https://www.facebook...&type=3 https://www.facebook.com/benjamin.crowe2#!/photo.php?fbid=10150680904050760&set=a.10150659138380760.492933.601360759&type=3&theater because the grain is flowing and lush. I want one solid piece of wood, not a top on something else. Am I going to regret it on weight grounds?

The whole modular thing is a valid one, but some people genuinely do not need a bigger rig. I have a set up I use for getting much louder when I need to, but I have a 1x12 for when I do not need to fight with a drummer.
nice! how does it compare to a B2 2x10 ?
I have absolutely no idea. All I know is that it is definitely lighter.
-
yes agreed, if the OP wants more volume per watt, the ACME probably isn't going to compete with the Barfaced cabs.
I have one of the ACME 12 cabs. It is lush. I could be persuaded to part with it because I am thinking about getting an 8 Ohm one (the power amp I want to use will only go down to 8Ohms)

The process continues. Pete is not happy with the design of the headstock he used for my Uke. It works for a 4 string but he is not loving it's aesthetics for a 5 string so he will be selling it as a 4 string pretty soon. I have copied and pasted the blurb from his facebook page below. It is a really nice instrument, just does not have the 5 strings I NEED in my life HOWEVER I have a 4 string uklectic bass ukulele coming up for grabs soon. It is a remodelling of Owen's 5 string and has a single peghead issue - the fat Kala style strings are bunched up. I've slept on this problem all weekend and the fix is simple - wind the 1st and 4th counter clockwise on the posts. Because of this issue I am selling the bass for £595 complete - solved this bass would cost £895. Remember it has optical fibre side dots at 5,7 and 10, 17 frets, Headway original Ashbory bass piezo, a cocobolo drop veneer facing and heavily side contoured fingerboard to simulate and uproight bass fingerboard edge. As usual pm me if you want this at my webmail address:

I am in the process of getting a Bass Uke built. I was over there on Friday night measuring stuff and muttered that I fancied building an instrument in this way. Pete Howlett who is the luthier in question said I was welcome to use his place and skills on an hourly basis. I was going to save up to do the Shuker course, but I am now going to do something similar just down the road on an hour by hour basis when it is convenient for both of us. Pretty excited I am The bass you made looks great!

If you love the SR4 look then you could put a SR4 scratchate and control plate on it.
-
Don't use it for bass guitar really.
So what's the main benefit on your Demeter? Or could you live without it?
It stops feedback on my DB. It is convenient to have it all in a 1U rack space. I could not live without parametric for amplifying DB for loud gigs. My B/Bb on my A string would howl all night long without something to tame it.

The bandwidth (Q) control is the bit that can make it seem that nothing is hapening or that EVERYTHING is happening. EA has semi-parametric.
