3.
or "polishing your chops"....
You are not wrong there!
4. I guess I should tell people what it actually does. Obviously I stole the rest of this post off the internet. Who on earth uses the word "woodshed"? It's an EQ, preamp, DI, and headphone amp with an auxiliary input. All aspects of this amazing new pedal are professional quality. It sounds flat out brilliant. The EQ points are perfect, chosen by ear, and sound great with any instrument, active or passive. The output of the preamp has loads of gain and will run any powered cabinet or be used in conjunction with any power amp and cabinet combination. But the crowning jewel of this pedal is the headphone section. A special switching power supply delivers the huge amount of current necessary to give you a clear, fat, and musical representation of whatever bass you plug in. Plus the "Aux" input allows for any music player source to be blended with your bass. This pedal is the perfect tool to use on your pedal board, take to the studio, or accompany you to the "woodshed" for polishing your chops and learning new tunes.

I am looking forward to more real world reports.
7. I have 2 vintage Fenders. I never play them and should probably flog them. But I am sentimenal and they are nice to have around.

9.
Early days, but let's start a list. 1. Bassace. Bryant Solo DB, Felix preamp, Puma 500 amp, Crazy 8 or OneTen cab.
It had better be the OneTen. No pressure.
10. Nope. I said it was a hotel to see if everyone was concentrating.
11. The Risely Hall looks lovely, but it is actually the Risely Park. http://www.therisleypark.co.uk/
12. Bump
13. Virtually unused DBX driverack - Crossover/Graphic EQ/Parametric EQ/Auto EQ/Limiter/Alignment delay/Feedback eliminator/Compressor/RTA Complete EQ and crossover so that your speakers can sound as good as possible. Programmable so that you can recall settings as you go back into the same room 6 months later.
14. So, we are going for Oct 2nd. What do people want to see happening? Apart from looking at more DB kit in one place than aywhere else in the UK, obviously. I am thinking possible short workshops on stuff like intro to Jazz (big topic), intro to Classical, using a bow, intro to Rockabilly. No more than 15 minutes a pop really. This kind of thing after lunch and before lunch wondering around playing different strings/amps etc etc etc. What else? It will be what we make it to be. Perhaps my luthier idea further up the page would be too time consuming.
15.
What she said. Just been through this with bows - and the bow I had wasn't cheap
I played with a really good bow once. I had to step away very quickly.
16. Double Bass means double the goodness! Or perhaps just carrying more bulk around. Anyway, there will be a DB bash in Derby (as central as poss) on Oct 2nd. Risley Park Hotel, Derby, not far from M1 Junction 25. This will be open to all DB players, obv, but also if you like the idea of DBs but have never had a chance to get stuck in then roll up and try your hand. We are all friendly. There is a thread here http://basschat.co.uk/topic/283160-double-bass-bash/ to post ideas and stuff.
17. I have just bought one. It is all good. It also includes enough Velcro to set up 3 full boards!
18. This is all well and good, but I need a website. I cannot find one. Yes, I tried google.
19. Prog-tastic!
20.
To be fair that whole band sounds fantastic but that's a rhythm section I could listen to all day.
There is an hour and a half of it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWa-PS2cRg4
21. That is proper.
22. Can I vote for the 2nd then?
