Update: We've made excellent progress just lately. The Falls Clinic and the physiotherapists have got Jack standing and sitting well enough to manage the passenger seat of his own car with minor adaptations! We had a trial run out this afternoon. All being well, we should be attending with our own transport. Many thanks to @Andyjr1515 and @Stub Mandrel for their kind offers of a lift. We are optimistic as always but it's reassuring to know that we have options if the rules change on us again suddenly.

I agree. A tasteful airbrush job depicting splattered zombie skull and brain fragments with appropriate gouges taken out here and there.

Although that's in E flat I believe Nate originally played that on a four that is tuned to E flat rather than a five as he is sometimes seen with. He said in an interview that he liked the slackness of the lower tuning. That and a relatively high action contribute to "his" sound. I happily play it on my five but I've not yet got it down to my satisfaction.

It shows what can be achieved with a little thought and a suitable donor bass. I think you did well to keep it simple yet dependable. I wish you many years of happy use from it.

Speak for yourself! I only said that we should not that I would... I am perfectly happy to carry on shouting at squirrels and Fender evangelists. Let me enjoy my dotage please. I love my Hohner. That's fighting talk. Oh okay. Fair enough. It's a valid point and it means that Cuzzie and me are still cool. Plus... Hohner paddle basses don't fall over because of the two strap buttons. They aren't going to get the usual knocks and dings as a result. They keep their finish a bit better. Is tw4tting zombies about the head with a bass a recognised relicising technique then?

I'll do the test later when I can run it through the living room amp. In the meantime it reminds me how I used to be able to hear the chirps of bats when I was in my early teens. Later I worked in the aviation industry around commercial jet engines. We were always provided with hearing protection. I know I have lost some of the higher frequencies due to normal ageing but I have also been an all weather motorcyclist for twenty five years. I've done hundreds of hours of motorway riding with no fairing nor ear plugs and I now have tinnitus. It will be interesting to follow through with the test here. More later...

Using the word turdburst is where you may be going astray. It is a somewhat yet not entirely abstract description of the colours on one particular variation of a well known bit of popular Americana. Me? I think that colour scheme looks more like someone has prolapsed rather badly onto a big sheet of blotting paper and then put a sheet of tortoiseshell down in a poor attempt to cover up the stain. There is no doubt that we both should seek professional advice.

My Steinberger XT25 had roundwounds from new and I kept popping the B string over the edge of the frets until I got used to the feel of it. I put flats on and it seemed to be a better balance of string gauges across the five of them. The B was less inclined to pop over the edge. The flats seemed to suit the humbucker/neck through combination. I don't look for a lot of treble in my rigs. I am old but I am not an old slapper! Like you, I bought an 18 inch Trace cab. I can't say what it's like at gig volumes but I have it as the extension cab to my Ashdown combo with its 15 inch cone. It's wonderful at the volumes I practice at. If you get the chance I'd love to hear what you think of it through the eighteen incher at full blast, as it were.

Cheers! We're quite optimistic. Whilst not expecting miracles, we can see a bit more scope for mobility because Jack's been doing his physio therapy for the last few weeks. As he was a national weight lifting competitor in his time, he is no stranger to reps and regular training sessions so it's going well. In addition, he is to be assessed at the falls clinic later in the week. We hope to understand what triggers his falls from this and make improvements to his treatment. Also we have had a kind offer of help already. I'm darned if I'm going to let the opportunity to attend slip by. Jack enjoyed it a lot last year too so he's got a goal to pull him through.

I'll put you down as slightly ambivalent then.
