4. Aye so I've stripped back my Precision to just a vol control as its the only control I use on the bass so my Villex PRTB booster is up for grabs, wonderful wee piece of kit gives added tonal versatility to just about anything. 5.
Yeah pathetic isn't it!! I tune flat normally, too. That makes me even more whimpy. I like low tension and light strings so much that I can almost not play basses with heavy strings and higher action!! I like my strings so light and loose that I can hardly feel them!!
I used to be the same until I was reading and article somewhere about building up fret hand stamina or something like that and it basicaly said to string up a spare bass with heavier strings so if you practiced using the spare and went back to your main bass you would be able to play it easier. I tried it and after a wee while I decided that the heavier strings felt better and went with that ever since
 6. wow I never thought so many folks would use light gauge strings I use 50-110 DR's or 55-110 D'Addario half rounds propper manly strings

 9.
I agree they are excellent pickups, but I don't want to add a pickup to the current configuration (and it already has a Wizard Thumper).
My 80's MIJ precision has been modded with a wizard thumper and stacked vol/tone controls and a Villex PRTB booster. greeneking has also done this but has added a villex P pup there are 2 reivews of the booster in the reveiws section Ped's Review GreeneKings Review Link to Villex Website well worth the ££ and a doodle to fit (unless your a numpty like me) and still keeps the traditional Pbass tone

 16. I've been doing a lil bit of soul searching over the past few months with my sound and as much as I love it, my DHA VT5 Pre amp is up for sale or trade. full spec here: DHA VT-5 studio pre amp Reveiw by jimbartlett here: Jimbartlett's Review Now, I've had this for a while now and its had a few gremlins which have been sorted out although the boost knob on the blue channel can be very crackly and very occasionally cuts out now it could be something as simple as a dry/weak solder (but its never bothered me as once i've set the controls its been left) but the sound always comes back after a few secs/taps of the knob. The pre can go from a cleanish sound right upto filthy distortion i set the red channel up for clean/light grit and the blue for overdrive/distortion. money wise i'd be looking at about £275 inc postage for this with the footswitch included I also have a Peavey PV1500 power amp for sale which is in good nick with some rack rash on the rack ears but is generaly in good condition and like all peavey stuff is built to last specs are - 300w @ 8ohms per channel - 500w @ 4ohms per channel - 750w @ 2ohms per channel - 500w @ 8ohms bridged mono - 1000w @ 4 ohms bridged mono IIRC I'd be looking at about £150 + about £20 postage for this as its a bi heavy also I'll sell the 4u rack for £30 posted or if anyone wants it with the either the pre or power i'll chuck it in for an extra £20 If anyone wants the lot i'll do it for £450 posted anyone want more pics info gimmie a shout

 19.
is that one of those stagg boards? if so does your carpet rip off? mine does also are you just using your EQ as a boost? matt
Its one of the budget spider cases from the flightcase warehouse so far so good on the carpet front, if it rips off I'll velcro the whole base the EQ at the mo is being used for more flexabitiy to the sound of my DHA VT5 (the tone controls on mine are passive bassed on an old fender circuit IIRC) not that its bad sounding in the slightest Kev there are no batteries in the pedals as i said in my post the power supply shall arrive on friday
