+1 for Sir Duke. It's now my favourite part of our set! Also "Magnificent Seven" by The Clash Jaco's "I Can Dig It Baby" (Little Beaver i think)

Just found this whilst looking for a project bass body http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fully-Loaded-SUNBURS...93%3A2|294%3A50 £34 for the fully loaded body, postage included
Pink's not so bad. My dad often goes misty eyed when he talks of his 60s Fender P in salmon pink... His look then turns nasty when he continues and says he sold it when I was born...
Buy him this one for Christmas, look all sincere and teary eyed when you give it him. And get someone to take a picture and post it on here

We usually stick to the 2x45 rule, although sometimes chop the first set down to extend the second depending on what time people decide to start drinking and dancing I think this usually ends up being 12 songs in each set, depending on what we're playing. Oh and sometimes we have to play Sir Duke twice cos people love it (i don't complain either!) Sometimes we do a solid 1hr30 or just an hour I remember one of our first weddings was a Greek do, turns out the bride's side of the family only wanted to hear the Bozouki player they had hired so we did about 10 or so songs then packed up. We had a Walkabout cancellation the previous night (still got paid) so ended up earning £1200 for 40 mins work!

No postage though, if he'd post it it would be gone by now

Have no idea about the basses but that looks sweeeeet!

"Father, why do you hate me?" Our old guitarist's missus had one of these, she used to bring it to gigs for me to use as a spare. Hers had Hello Kitty stickers on it....

I found that unplugging the bass and trying to get a clean note unamplified helped wonders. I learnt at uni and didn't have an amp, by the end of the first semester i could slap pretty well! When i needed to learn the thumb and two finger popping technique (Black-eyed blonde) i went back to this method to make it easier to get a clean technique down
I have the opposite problem. I like my strings to sound deader than a very dead thing. I'd use flatwounds, but I don't really get along with the feel of them. Anyone know how to kill off a set of new roundwounds?
I'm sure if you paid the postage loads of us would send you old sets of strings. I threw out about 10 complete sets of Elites/Elixirs/Hartke strings not so long ago

Roughly how much to make a bass fretless?
lemmywinks replied to 1976fenderhead's topic in Repairs and Technical
The Michael Kelly acoustics seem to get good reviews, fretless available as standard too. I played a really nice Takamine fretless acoustic a while ago too, don't think that was too expensive (2nd hand) -

Yeah they were at silly low prices for a while (i think £360 was the lowest i saw), bear in mind that Rays were going for £550+ at the time. I've seen a few on eBay go for £400+ I think now Ray prices are a bit healthier the SUB prices are better too. Personally i think £400 is about right for one of these without a case, it's new MIM Fender territory

Hi I'd like to add a piezo bridge to my bitsa fretless. It's a J type with an active circuit I'm assuming that after drilling the hole from the bridge to the control cavity it would be a simple matter of fitting a blend pot and attaching the wires from the different pickups to this, possibly including a volume pot for the piezo. Please pardon my ignorance (i'll be getting a hired lackey to do all this btw so i don't destroy my bass) but would i be able to take the signal from the piezo through the blend pot and then to the active circuit? Or would the piezo signal have to be independent of this? Cheers for any help Steve

So Larry Graham's not cool now? Right, who wants to buy my bass gear?

How much was yours up at? I didn't really know what to value it at, the last one that sold on here went for £375. That was a passive version with no case, had a MM scratchplate though, it was also priced for a quick sale As this one is the active version and has a quality case i thought an extra £35 was about right
*Phew* Now if that other Curbow will just go then I won't have to worry about remembering to lock myself out of my PayPal account before coming on this forum.
How much is the other Curbow up at? Don't remember a price being on it. Played one of the Tanglewood ones when they came out and was suitably impressed. I reckon you should get it, you'll regret it later! Comes in a nice gig bag too.....

I'll have a look at the action when i get a chance (gigs this weekend) as it's a bit too high for my liking, feels strangely nice to play though, maybe not for a full gig! Just thought i'd mention that my mate has hardly played this. He bought it along with a USA Hartke Kickback 15 (spent around a grand i think) then lost interest in bass. I've gigged it a few times when my Warwick was playing up but that's about all the action it's seen. I think the pitting on the control plate (there's also a little on the bridge but not much) is simply down to it being stored in a case for months on end It's been out on loan with a learner for a bit but i don't think he did much with it Ta Steve

Selling this for my housemate. It's a SUB4 in the bluey (or whatever it's actually called!) colour, active pre amp. It's in great condition apart from a couple of dings on the headstock (pictured, a little bit of marker pen disguises them almost completely), a tiny ding on the top edge of the neck (shown in the pics) and some pitting on the control plate (again shown). Comes with a Gator-style ABS case he bought seperately. The strap which holds this open at an angle is broken, this could be repaired or removed, either way the case is fully functional and in great nick. He's looking for £410 collected from Blackpool, can post at buyers expense. Feel free to come try it out, there should be a few amps to try it out with depending on whether my gear is here or not. Either way we'll have a couple of Hartke combos and a Ashdown/Hartke rig knocking about the house EDIT: I'll try to get some better pics up soon when i get acces to a decent camera. That's not a crazy spider thing on the control plate btw, it's the reflection of our light fitting!

Plus at the prices stuff is going for on here you won't lose money if you decide it's not for you We've honestly never had it so good with regards to quality kit, this site is terrible for my GAS!
