Yes with Mighty Mite/All parts/Warmoth - all quality. Make sure you get the exact radius/dimensions etc you want, check the neck pocket and heel size to make sure they are compatible- you may have to build the pocket/shave. There are some good second hand bargains out there. Go for it!

Firstly sorry to hear that, it’s massively wanky. Read through all the posts and thought initially “forget you! Your gig can do one!” Through to doing the gig as Borat and sabotaging the whole thing. I think maybe the Dep suggestion is the best one - give them your last minute Dep rate, treat it like a business, pop in an awesome performance and network if there are possibilities. Also travel in your own vehicle and let the other guys tyres down whilst they are not looking.

I don’t disagree generally with the SD pick up comments, but they do have some good in amongst the standard stuff that people don’t commonly use such as the APB-1 pick up.

Plus I would consider going all out and add a Stellartone Bass Ten Tonestyler as well

Creamery are top drawer, Jaime there is a great guy to deal with and they do a ‘58, ‘65, ‘74, ‘14 but you can base a pick up on those stock ones and he will alter the windings to suit, yes there is a wait, but they are well worth it

Pre amps are defo Glockenklang but latterly they have of course used the Darkglass tone capsule in their Grand Dark bass. That is an option, Glock do a 3 band, Noll electronic have a preamp with a different flavour that fits, you can utilise stacked knobs for these and these are pretty good, of course there are the Aguilar ones. Buckets of options, all have their pluses and minuses - but crucially you have a wonderful bass template for you to tinker with

USB sticks, SD cards etc are cheap as chips these days. He could burn onto them and hand them out. Do you have any way of recording ‘out front’ to check the difference? The mixer will of course what goes into it, but how it sounds out front once bodies are there may well be different once the speakers are blaring - it may help for getting levels right especially if you play the same venues

Not all flats are the same, not all rounds are the same, some flats give you zing, some rounds give you no zing after 15seconds of airing.

Pick or fingers? Fingers with fingernails? playing nearer the bridge or neck? Even before we start talking wholesale EQ changes you can get a lot of difference by altering the above

Most of those SA presets are chaff Again the DG does not do that vast array of sounds, so for that price, yes it needs it. The PSA is a wonderful studio piece of kit which can now be taken more easily on the road, that takes some tech and knowledge to bring that package, so it will cost, and it’s not too unreasonable bearing everything in mind, especially if you are a multi instrument musician.

Beauty is you can store 3 for easy recall, and then only have to remember the 1 more, so it’s actually saving you headspace

Go Creamery Pick ups - best out there and british, they have a ‘58, a ‘65 and a ‘14 but within them you can ask for a specific spec and Jaime will wind accordingly. I am not sure they have done a black label P pick up yet for sale separately........
